With my 2nd pick, Suntiger selects Zach Kline, QB from Cal.
Ht: 6' 2"
Wt: 200 lbs
Senior stats, 341 attempts, 230 completions for 3630 yards with 36 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
I usually don't draft QBs very early, but Kline is too good to pass up and I think he will end up being the best QB of this class. He has a cannon for an arm, but also has some athleticism, and will be learning from QB guru Jeff Tedford. He was the Gatorade State Player of the year for California and also an early enrollee. He's a good leader (a/k/a has the chest to lead his team), has good size and mobility and is going to be a hell of a quarterback.
Kiel may get the headlines, but it reminds me of when Clausen and Mallett came out and Clausen was Mr. Everything while Mallett was clearly the better QB. Kline doesn't quite have the arm of Mallett, but he reminds me a lot of Mallett, without being a headcase. I'm very excited about this pick.

I should have learned my lesson from last year to take the best player possible in the early rounds. I loved Watkins but had my eye on a couple of late rounder guys so I passed.
I see a lot of Watkins in Agholor. I'm not sure he'll be given the same opportunities early like Watkins was at Clemson, but his film shows off a ton of talent.
As for draft strategies, I waffle back and forth between BPA versus depth of talent at that position versus needs. This year, I decided to go with the BPA regardless of position.

I did that last year. This year I'm just picking who I like and running with it.

I reserve the right to change my entire strategy and reasoning based on convenience!
Question for the guys that have been here since 2010. Who do you most regret tossing back in the Enfuego Rounds?
I gave up Max Bullough (Mich St. LB) for Jeff Luc (FSU). Bullough has started since day one and led his team in tackles last year with 89. So far, Luc has had no luc! Still time to turn it around I suppose.

One of my guys I enfuego'd is still on a mission I think.

Oh man you brought back memories with this one. I was very high on him to be my Mike LB two years ago. But when I noticed that Lawrence Thomas, in the 2011 class, had committed to Mich St as a Mike LB, I moved on thinking he would just lose his spot the very next year.
Max did what you already said and Thomas didn't PLAY in a single game last year, and is probably too big to be a LB now at 275 pounds.
It really shows that sometimes we know absolutely dick.

REALLY wanted this guy. And I also ended up picking a fatty fat MLB who is probably a DT now at Ole Miss.

Don't know if I regret it or not, but I threw back Jamal Bass of Northern Illinois (redshirted, but started as a RS freshman until he was suspended for running over a flute player during pregame) and picked up Prince Shembo of Notre Dame (played the last two years).
Bass had 60 tackles this year as a RS freshman.
Shembo had 15 tackles last year with 4.5 sacks and had 31 tackles this year with two sacks as a sophomore.

I think I threw back Preston Brown from Louisville to get Telvin Smith. Brown has started every game at Louisville since he stepped on campus and Smith is splitting time with Vince Williams.
Not dreadful, but would have been better sticking with Brown.

I didn't Enfuego anyone so I can't regret tossing them back.
But I think what this whole exercise shows is the sheer number of players that disappear from football all together.
Success = Ability + Attitude + Situation
Ability is something that is easy to see on film and through measurables. The situation is external and depends on many moving parts. But success is so dependent on soft measures like attitude, drive, work ethic, temperament, moral compass, and aptitude; and this is where most evaluations fail or come up short.
We've got a little Taleb and Fooled by Randomness going on here.

I threw back Carlton Martin DT Ole Miss for Ricky Heimuli DT Oregon. It worked out because that is who I was going to draft at DT. After Heimuli got selected, I went all depressed and waited on grabbing a DT.
Martin redshirted and played in 11 games in 2011 and had 7 tkls.
Heimuli played in 13 games in 2010 and had 9 tkls and 1 TFL. He played in 14 games in 2011 with 22 tkls and 0.5 TFL, and 1 FF.
Martin is behind a Soph on the depth chart and Heimuli is behind a JR.

Agree 100%.
I think this is the what really separates players at all levels.

Sorry for the wait I was in class. With my next pick I select Dante Fowler

I'm not shocked that this insanely deep DL class is getting raided early and often.
12 of the first 30 picks all DL.

With my Second Round pick of the TDRBMD I select
Josh-Harvey-Clemons, OLB, Georgia
6'5 210 4.45 40 yd.
JHC should put on some weight and develop into a premier pass rushing OLB in Todd Granthams 3-4 defense.

Nice pickup.
