A good scoring system would
1 point for
starting 10+ games in a season(use some discretion in cases where at the end of the season runningbacks have similar # of carries or defensive players have similar # of tackles as the listed starter)
2 points for
2nd team all conference
starting 10+ games for a top 25-11 team(end of year ranking)
2nd team all freshman
getting drafted in rounds 7-5
3 points for
1st team all conference
1st team all freshman
starting 10+ games for a top 10 team(end of year ranking)
4 points for
finalist for a major award(except heisman)
getting drafted in rounds 4-2
2nd team all american
5 points for
1st team all american
drafted in first round
winning a major award(except heisman)
top 2-10 in heisman voting
6 points for
heisman winner
I say we use cfn.scout.com as our site for all conference and all america teams.

OldIowa, that's has to be a third of your team that has quit or transfered so far this year?!?!

bump what do you all think of the scoring system above
Posted on 8/25/10 at 6:00 am to OUandLSUfan
It looks good to me. It will be an arse beater to figure out the scores for all of those players. Each owner will need to figure out their own scores and submit them to me for entry.
Thanks.

Thanks.

Take out the points for top 25-11 and top 10 teams. If that was the case I would have just picked big school guys.

Yep. Missed that. Too much bourbon.

I thought team success should be included some how. It doesnt have to be rankings I we can change it to wins 8-10 wins and 11+ wins.
Posted on 8/26/10 at 4:49 pm to OUandLSUfan
I'm not sure any sort of absolute rankings will ever work.
However, I do think, in a few years, we'll be able to stack the teams side by side and say... "Oh this one is good and this one is not" etc. etc.

After seeing how my team turns out, I will recommend a scoring system.

They don't have to work per say. But lets just have something so it is competitive

I'm cool with that too.
My only problem is if you have a good player on a small team. ie, my QB will have all kinds of great numbers and get all-conf., etc. However, SMU will not likely be a top 25 team. Or what if you have Ben Rothlesberger or Jake Locker who is on a bad team, but was a good recruit?

I think we should reward team success a little because the starting safety for lets say a 2 win Mississippi state team who doesn't win any awards, get drafted or get named to any all star teams gets the same amount of points as the starting safety who doesn't win any awards, get drafted or get named to any all star teams and plays for a top 10 ACC champion.
FYI Big Ben had Miami ranked in the top 10
But its no biggie if you guys don't wanna include that. With or without it can we agree to use the system just to rank the teams in the end and get a general feel for who here is a good talent evaluator and for bragging rights

Happy and sad for me.
I drafted him with my first pick, but I thought he would play more cornerback, which is where I slotted him to be at.
Oh well. Still not too bad for him to be starting as a true freshman.
"frick your couch, ****!"

Me too. Has anyone heard anything about Trovon Reed or Lache Seastrunk.
Actually, besides about three or four guys, I don't expect many of my players to play right away.

Week 1 CFB Recruiting Team Update:
1) Shon Coleman: Can't find any updated information about him, but he's not currently listed on the Auburn roster.
2) Markeith Ambles: Ambles is running as the 2nd WR behind Sr. Ronald Johnson, so he should see plenty of time this season.
3) Adrian Hubbard: Currently a 3rd string LB behind Junior, Courtney Upshaw, and RS Fr. Ed Stinson.
4) Demar Dorsey: Denied admission into Michigan and the rumor is he was headed to Louisville... however, classes have started and he's still not on campus...
5) Andrew Hendrix: Hendrix is headed for a RS, it seems, and currently playing with the scout team behind some experienced guys, but Brian Kelly had this to say about him: "I can tell you Hendrix can throw the ball like nobody I coached - he's got an incredible arm. His arm strength is off the charts."
6) Demetrius Wright: Sharing 2nd team FS duties with fellow true freshman Dion Bailey.
7) Christian Bryant: Currently splitting duties backing up a Senior at the nickel back spot.
8) Jordon James: Running 3rd string RB behind two experienced guys and fellow true freshman Malcolm Jones.
9) Dakota Royer: Not currently listed in the depth chart, but is playing LB.
10) Andrew Rodriguez: Can't find any news about him. Nebraska doesn't like to update their depth charts.
11) Evan Hailes: Not currently listed on the two-deep, but is on the roster.
12) Jalen Fields: Failed to qualify academically and landed at Georgia Military College.
13) Antonio Goodwin: Running 3rd string behind Darvin Adams and DeAngelo Benton.
14) Corey Cooper: Can't find any news about him. Nebraska doesn't like to update their depth charts.
15) Travon Van: Failed to qualify academically at Florida, now at Marshall. Is listed as a RB on their roster, not currently on the depth chart.
16) Darryl Baldwin: Listed as a DE, but not currently on the two-deep.
17) Christian Pace: Looks like he's cruising for a redshirt.
18) Chris Jones: Listed at WR on Texas' roster, but not currently on the two deep.
19) Clarence Jackson: Listed as the number 2 WLB going into the season and will see time.
20) Telvin Smith: Currently listed as 3rd team WLB. Interestingly, I decided to pick up Smith and drop Preston Brown (picked him narrowly over Clarence Jackson) and now Preston Brown is the starting MLB for Louisville. Doesn't mean he'll have a better career... but he's off to a quick start.
21) Chase Hughes: Enrolled in January but suffered a shoulder injury that limited him. Not currently in the two deep.
22) Dan Foose: Cruising for a redshirt... no shocker.
23) Jatashun Beachum: Can't find much info on "Big Tex" yet, but he's listed as an ATH on the roster.
24) Kyle Baublitz: Listed as the 3rd team DE currently.
Soooo all in all, most of my guys won't contribute early.
Had a few non-qualifiers, one of which is still looking for a place to land.
Good thing this is a marathon, not a sprint.
