So what?

Why does that matter?

I don't know how to look at this. If he was a four year kid I wouldn't really care. But LSU may have gotten the BPA at a position of need. Idk. We couldn't go into next season with the same guys we had this year.

We will get one year of starting out of him. There are players that take up 5 years of scholarship that we don't get a year of starting out of.

This is not a big deal.

Sooooo this leaves us with four (4).

How many grayshirts can we take?

I'm thinking if we can take 2 as in the past, then Mike Williams is certainly one. He'll need a year anyhow to get into playing shape.

Who would be the other?

Hmmmm. Let's see. Maybe that we only have 4 scholarships left to give out? Not including Ardarious Washington

So if nothing can be done and the K does count, how many spots are left?

And the two kickers we had may have been just fine if they had a position coach, which they will next year!

If this is true.... we will lose Chase, Watkins, Foster, or another highly rated recruit... this is a screw up.

I agree with you. I tend to trust the staff and their evaluations.

I would also disagree with the people criticizing this move saying "now you have to use a scholly on a kicker two years in a row." Not necessarily, you still have Culp and Gonsoulin. One of those (or both) may stick.

Reading is fundamental.

I didn't question the signing. I questioned why he thinks it matters that the kids has only one year of eligibility.

The 85 scholly maximum is a big limiter too, and this kid will drop off after next year.

Looks like a good pick up.

Not having a great kicker could legit lose a game (or two) for us next year. Signing a 5th WR will not be the difference in winning or losing next year.

I think this means we finish with either:

Surtain, Goodrich, Joseph and Joiner

-OR-

Surtain, Goodrich, Joseph and Chase

I want both Joiner and Chase, but it sucks we can't have them both. I definitely want Goodrich, though.

It did cost us the Troy game this year, didn't it?

Any waivers that the coaches can apply for? Wonder how long it would take to get an answer. He’s a grad transfer. It really shouldn’t be this hard.

I think Florida wished it had a kicker that could make all of his PATs.

Yeah...I don't understand why he had to sign and be a part of the class at this time.

What if he wanted to come aboard next summer...well after after signing day...as a grad transfer?

Is the NCAA not going to allow him to transfer as a graduate because LSU had a 25 man signing class months earlier?

I've never heard of graduate transfers doing formal signings like he did.

It's not a SEC matter, it's an NCAA matter, so what does the SEC office have to do with it. Is there a link somewhere that states this for a fact, or just someone's interpretation of the new signing rules?

Good question, I don't know. It'd be great if they could find some way, though...
