I think hes ranked pretty accurately with where he is now: 4 star, top 5 DE, and top 150 in the nation. There are only 2 5 star DEs in the nation and one of them is Robert Nkemdiche, and he is the #1 player overall. The other guy is top 10 in the nation. Tim Williams is a solid prospect, but he is nowhere near the level of Nkemdiche. And im very familiar with UHigh and their program, but i dont think hes 225. He has the frame and build to pack on much more weight, but hes lighter than 225 right now. Solid prospect, and ranked where he should be. But, i think he is 1 of those players that can rise up the charts if he has a great year coming up. Potential is def there, but he is not a 5*. The top player in the state is DeSean Smith IMO. Kid is college ready now with his size and skills. Tim is most likely the top defensive player in the state, and top 5 overall.

Very accurate post. Great job.

His competition is important imo though. He should dominate those kids if he's an elite prospect. Remember Chris Davenport and his JR film?

If you use Chris Davenport as an example, you should then discuss Tyson Jackson, Marcus Spears, Michael Clayton, Stefon Lefors, Quinn Johnson, Odell Beckham, both Mannings, every player to come out of Curtis or Evangel the last few years, etc.

His offer list speaks for itself.

I have no idea. It just seems that the top Louisiana guy is always some kind of huge fight for LSU with Alabama or someone else. I don't understand it.

Laell Collins & Freak disagree.

However, obviously everyone wants the best and to beat their chests & say they stole one away from under lSU's nose.
Just like we try to go into Fl, Ga, TX etc & fulfill our needs with guys they want.

And Joe McKnight, Rueben Randle, Trovon Reed, and Landon Collins say they agree.

Yes, we get the top guys more often than not. But, it often seems like a big fight.

I used Davenport becuase of all those other kids how many were 5*s? Only Peyton Manning. Also did use Rasco who's from Evangel as an example. Big difference between Rasco's film(other than Jr) and Davenport's film compared to Williams'. Also wasn't using Davenport as an example in a bad way and in fact was giving him credit for dominating the competition like he was supposed to. Williams film is good but it isn't earth shattering or anything out of the norm which tells me he doesn't completely dominate those kids the way a potential 5* kid should as some others in the thread suggested. For every success story there's an Al Woods or a Davenport who don't live up to the 5* hype. A big reason for that is because the competition they faced wasn't great and they had an adjustment period. That was the purpose of the post. The competition is relevant particularly for DL kids that aren't used to facing kids their size or athletic equal. A good skill position talent is a good skill postion talent. Whole different ball game than a lineman who's game is predicated on strength and facing a guy across the line either bigger or as big and strong as he.

You should expect a "fight" when recruiting the top players in the state. The guys listed above, for the most part, are pretty talented kids.

90% of LSU's fanbase online is obsessed with Saban. I just don't get it.

Actually it's not 90% and it's stupid to ignore him. He has many in state connections throughout the state. CNS is also THE most successful OOS coach that is pulling in elite prospects from LA. Fans like you that don't think he's a threat to our program are wrong! I don't think it impacts us from one or two recruits from this year, but cumulative effects will be felt over a period of time.

That said - I think LSU is going to be awesome this year; However, Alabama appears to have the upper hand in recruiting for the following years and we need our elite prospects to stay home.
