JJ ... you guys have a great setup in West Monroe. It was a lot of fun covering a game there. The fans were very receptive to Leesville and very knowledgeable about its players.
I thought Leesville stood toe to toe with one of the great programs in the state and you were right, both teams made a lot of sloppy mistakes. It's week one, right?
Things didn't look good for Ford in the first half at all. WM's defense was fired up to stop him. He also played with a severe blister on his foot and had to have it wrapped several times during the game.
Even though the score showed 28-7, I think Leesville played better than that and could have had a chance at an upset if not for the turnovers in the red zone. Give credit to WM's defense though for stepping up and stopping them.
I agree with all of you guys, Mingo is out of place at safety. I really believe LB or even DE would be better suited for him.
Stallworth played one of his worse games I've seen him play as far as decision-making goes. He tried to do too much instead of playing within the offense. Ford ran very hard and I think it was the big DE Jordan Allen that he ran over in the second half and Allen came up woozy.
Abrams runs hard man. That kid needs to be playing somewhere on Saturdays. I also agree, Banks should not be playing QB.
All in all, it was a fun trip and I think Leesville has good things ahead for this season. They actually outgained WM in total yardage (pay attention qb ... that's why they scheduled the game).
And yes, Ford's stats are accurate. 21-173.

The News Star gave him 21/180.

You had to be there to understand. Both teams gave the other team ample opportunities to run away with the game.

Bayou Bengal ... as JJ said, you had to be there. This game was as close as it could be.

You always have excuses. Last week you said he didn't have a good game cause they sat around for four hours before the game (I guess they don't know how to warm up). Aren't you the one who did the stats? Where's all the 4.4 guys and D1 on the team you said leesville had?

Good decision to take in the game from the sideline instead of the WM press box, Rocks!!

I was told that he had more carries and about 40 less yards. Also besides that long run he probably had about 70 yards.
why do you consistently bash this kid? what purpose does it serve other than proving that you're a huge douchebag?

It's Cajun because of him giving false stats. Now you get it Douchebag!

i'm sure that what you heard is more accurate than the newstar and all of the first hand accounts in this thread

qb ... you are classic, I'll give you that.

No doubt CROWN ... that pressbox is tiny. Shows told me he's been trying to get a new one built for years.
I had to take photos of the game anyway, so sidelines it was.

Oh, and qb, my stats were actually less than the news star had for Ford. How do you figure I was giving him an excuse. The kid rushed for 180 yards he needs no excuse. That's a great game against a stout defense.

Cajun called me a liar about some stats but I proved I was right and he lied (many times). Leesville is in a weak district and not a good football team. I don't believe they would have beaten Jennings this week. If WM wouldn't have played a sloppy game, the score could have been 50-0.

Wasting your time Rocks. Ford is great and I am excited about him.
My only knock on Leesville is the o-line and I feel as though they lean on Ford a little too much. There are other athletes on the field and they just ride him to death. Your offense began to work a little better when they started distributing the ball a little with the passing game.

I like Ford! I don't like Cajun!
Posted on 9/7/08 at 11:56 am to qb11288
awwww, qb, that breaks my heart that you don't like me. How will I go on?
CROWN, I think in the first half they leaned on Ford because the rest of the inexperienced guys were a little awestruck playing at West Monroe.
You are right, though, for them to be successful this season they'll need to spread the ball around more they did that in the second half.
