I can't stand their school or their fans. I think as you find more and more teams gravitate towards the spread in the big 12 and texas highschool football, tech will find its rightful place as bottom dwellers of the big 12.

"Obviously you have never been there."
I have been there three times.
"They are not deep in football tradition."
I don't think recruits today, necessarily care about this.
"They will continue to have problems recruiting againt the big boys of the conference."
They'll never recruit on Texas or Oklahoma's level, but they should have more success with the abundance of talent from within the state.

Yep. I'd say you sound biased. Go back to be bottom dwellers in the Big 12? Why would they want to change places with A&M?

I live three hours south of Lubbock, and I don't think there is anything wrong with the city personally. I think the recruiting problem is more the fact that Texas, OU, and to a lesser extent, LSU in the eastern part of the state get who they want first. Also, the west Texas area is home to a lot of 6-man football, and it is rare that one of those guys will pick up a schollie to a DI school, much less a Big XII school. They are close to the Permian basin, is a pretty fertile area for recruits, and some of Permians players have gone to Tech in the past few years.
Until this weekend, the thought process was that Tech was a second-tier Big XII team, but last year's win against OU, and Saturday's win over UT will change things for them in the short-term. There is still plenty of talent to go around in Texas, and if they keep competing on the big stage they will start recruiting better.

Because Texas Tech is a system offense. To put it frankly, not many players make the leap from Tech to the NFL....its not an NFL player producing school.
Crabtree is the exception. Harrell will flop like the rest of Leach's QBs.

Lubbock is kinda the armpit of TX. Really not a very happening place for college kids. It is not as bad as Starkville, but it is close.

Funny thing is, with their shitty recruiting, they still have a better QB than we do.
So does ole Miss, Tulane, FL, AL, UGA, Vanderbilt, and on and on. It is time to let JJ in the game! He should have had at least a quarter against Tulame.

Wouldn't mind seeing Duncan from Tara on the LSU defense this year - one of Texas Tech best defensive players from baton Rouge

FYI...seems like Tech just pulled in Emory Blake, 4* receiver from tx, Jeff Blake's son. Pretty much one of the best route runners in the country, and will be a nice target for jacob karam in the future.
