So? We didn't make any mistakes. What else could you ask for?

I could ask for us to call a timeout to give us a better chance to do what we were trying to do. Im not arguing against the pass. Im arguing agianst him not calling a TO

Just didn't want to risk a mistake..Get into half close and make changes needed to win.

then why not run the clock out after we made Alabama use their timeouts? We threw the ball until we got there and were in striking distance

This has nothing to do with clock management. NOTHING. It is simply a decision the coach has to make at the end of the half. Coaches take knees and run out the clock at half time probably half of the games. It isn't clock management! It IS a judgement call if you think it is worth the risk to try.

There was no need to do anything risky at that time. We did what was smart: go into halftime with a bit of momentum and come out swinging in the 2nd half.

this was not the case, we were airing it out inside our own 20 trying to get in scoring range. If we were being conservative we would have ran the ball with Bama having 0 timeouts

What are you talking about? We were passing the ball trying to get in FG positioned as evidenced on the next play. If we were running it out we would have ran to locker room not a passing play

Ok here is what it is in a nutshell. I get with what your getting at. Take a chance at home dont leave 2 timeouts out there. I was ok with either one.

MY PROBLEM was when we recovered the fumble after an awesome play by Nevis, right there is where you say THANKS FOR COMING OUT BAMA but TAKE THAT. TD -- BALLGAME.

I know I know we won. But running it up the middle for 6 yards and kicking the field goal worked but do that on the road NOT IN YOUR HOUSE.

At any rate great great win by Les "Grass" Miles

This is what people aren't getting. We were taking a chance at scoring and we still left 2 TOs. We didnt decide to be conservative. We were trying to score and still left 2 TOs on the board

I'm not losing sleep over it. It's what we've got in Les and I'm trying to appreciate his positives and let his negatives stop bothering me so damn much.

This

But I didn't say it was easy.

My point is... I am not saying it was right or wrong to do what was done. All I am saying is they chose to try to score and then with 10 seconds left decided not to try to make something happen. Right or wrong it was a choice.

It had nothing to do with the coaches being ABLE to get off more plays. If the coaches had WANTED to try to score with 10 seconds left and couldn't get off another play despite having TO's left that would be a clock management issue. But the coaches let the clock run down on purpose. So it isn't a clock management issue it is a judgement call... a game time decision.

They threw a pass on the next snap. They were trying to get in position for a FG.

I still don't think they knew what they were trying to do

it's like one person was calling plays to get into the endzone, and the other was trying to run out the clock...

anyone else watch the replay?

The fans in the north endzone were giving Les the business about this as he went to the locker room at halftime.

Considering field position, I think there was some sideline suprise we moved it to 43, but 10 secs is a stretch on getting 2 plays off and has to be weighed in with what could go wrong on a 20+ yard pass play UA is expecting.
You make it sound like all passes have equal risk and you also sound miserable in victory.

We did throw it down field and missed on it. So after that the coaches decided to pack it in. I didn't like it either but I guess they thought we lost the element of surprise, dunno.

the biggest mistake was not letting the entire playclock wind down when we were up by 10 late in the 4th...i believe that happened 3 times
