re: 2017 LSU football parking ( more changes )

LSU has been implementing more parking regulations every year for a while now. It really ramped up in 2011 when they made all the interior campus pay by game or season reserved pass. Little by little LSU has chipped away at reducing the accessibility of tailgating areas. Many posters on this site love to boast about the LSU gameday tailgate scene, but then defend LSU's parking restrictions every year in saying "well every school does it" or "good it cuts down on trash". You can't have it both ways. LSU tailgating is over as we once all knew it.

I pay 2200 plus 160 for chairs in three seats in the south end zone. That's close to 400 fricking dollars a game this year to sit in the south end zone.
There is no fricking way I will pay 50+ to park over half a mile away on top of that so I can see LSU play Chatafrickingnooga.

Riverroad is going to be hell with people not realizing until they pull up that 412, 413 are no longer free. That is a ton of spots. I don't see how they are going to fill all those with reserved parking

Yeah people will be pissed. 35 dollars face value for a Chattanooga ticket. A ticket you will be able to get for free or 5 dollars on the street a hour before the game. Yet they are going to charge 50 bucks to park. What they are doing is recouping money on parking that they can't get at the concessions from people who leave earlier because of a shitty fricking home schedule.

oh yeah the parking definitely is NOT cheap just like season tix now. I pay 300 for a parking pass plus 100 tradition fund. 400 a year for a pass! let's' face it many people are getting priced out across the board now. They won't stop until they hit a critical mass where people stop paying. right now there is another guy to pick up where you left off with tickets and passes. so they do not give two shits. i totally understand how many feel about rather sitting at home in the AC with a 65" HD TV a bathroom and food and drinks galore instead of paying through the nose for a crap game in the nosebleeds far from a restroom with crap concessions and crap traffic. i will eventually be priced out myself so i am trying to enjoy what time i have left with my tix.

Soooo am I missing something or the Hayfield is still free? Everything I read on LSU website has it listed as purple, free, public lot

I am like you are. Hoping to go a few more years. I have parked in the Union garage the past 3 years. The charge was $25 per game in the past. They now want $50 per game and another $5 service fee per game. The hell with that. I am trying out the CATS bus this year. If it is a pain in the arse, I will not have to pick between the opener of duck season or a game in the future. Thanks Joe!

All this shite will cause is more fights amongst fans in the remaining free lots when they leave their fricking chairs out for their friends to show up 2 hours before kickoff.
The schools lists it as a violation of the rules with zero enforcement

Lot 413 is what is in question. Last year lot 413 and 412 which many referred to as the Hayfield/Levee lots in addition to the one you see in purple.
407 was the game by game RV lot.
Now 407 is a reserved car lot
412 was free and is now a reserved RV lot.
413 was free and is now a reserved lot
Losing 412 and 413 free parking lots will put a shite ton of pressure on the remaining free lots. That is thousands of cars.
However there seems to be an expansion of the levee south lot and I dont recall seeing a gourrier south lot before. So this may pick up the extra cars at a much longer walk.

If anyone has been by there recently maybe they can shed light on this. Have they paved or put limestone in these lots? If not what will they do if we get some heavy rain the day before or day of the game. People will have bought passes for a lot that likely would be closed.

Complains about parking restrictions
Then...
Bitches about post game traffic.
Don't change LSU fans, don't change.

I am wondering why LSU hasn't really told the fans about these changes. I only discovered it because I googled the 2017 LSU football parking pass. Saturday is going to be very interesting.

I get what you are saying, but the issue is this:
Fans are already paying a significant amount to attend the game. Now LSU is forcing them to pay a not so insignificant amount to park as well (up to $90 for a single game). I agree there should be parking restrictions to, in part, reduce pre/post game traffic. However, you're placing that burden on the ticket holder who is already giving money to LSU.
The problem comes when you have a large group of people driving to and parking on campus who have no intention whatsoever of actually purchasing a ticket and/or attending the game. In the most basic sense these people are nothing more than loiterers who take up limited parking spaces and create more traffic congestion than is actually necessary...all while making no monetary contributions (I don't give a shite how many LSU hats, stickers and doo-dads you have). Go to any tailgate and you'll find at least 1/3 of the people there don't have tickets and aren't going to the game.
So in one respect you are creating a disincentive for "loiterers" to come out on gameday just to party, thus presumably creating less pre/post game traffic. But you are also creating a disincentive for people who want to attend the game as well. For instance, this year it would cost a person at least $200 to attend the Auburn game if he wanted to drive and park on campus ($110 ticket + $90 parking pass). For many people it starts to become too cost prohibitive to come out to a game.
If reducing traffic congestion on campus is the primary goal, then it seems that could be accomplished without virtually eliminating reasonable free parking. There will and should always be a market for parking passes for those who want to park close to the stadium. However, charging significant amounts for people to park nearly 1/2 mile from the stadium (i.e. the levee lots) seems unnecessary, even under the auspices of "traffic control". That could be accomplished by keeping those lots as free parking, but limiting them to those who have tickets to the game.
In an era where attendance at sporting events is diminishing and reportedly a "big concern" for teams/schools, making it MORE onerous to attend a game doesn't seem like a solution to that problem.

I hate to say I told you so, but how does everyone feel after that shite show yesterday. LSU did little to nothing to notify people of changes.
