I'm highly unexcited about this years defense. I worry about our run defense.

not even paying attention to the trend
If anyone is not paying attention to trend in 08, 09, the years you bring up, it's you. Like it or not, going from 7th in the SEC to 3rd is and upward trend and something neither Gerry nor Mike could do....stop the decline.
Anyway, comparing Gerry and Mike to Miles is just plain bogus and you know it or at least you should.

But it isn't better than any record that Urban Meyer has ever had,
It is tied for the best he's ever had at Florida.

And excludes a loss to a 4-loss team.

It is a decline.
Of course not.

Nip it in the bud.
Florida does nip problems in the bud. And everyone who coaches there knows it. That's why they don't have many problems, and when they do, the problems are gone quickly, or the coaches are. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that they are also hands down and by far the most successful athletic program in the SEC across the board.

See where I'm going?
Yes, somewhere into fantasy land, apparently, if you are trying to make any kind of comparison between Les Miles and Urban Meyer.
quote:
Let the man fail before calling him a failure.
I did. Miles failed in 2008 and again in 2009. How many consecutive years must he finish outside the top 15 despite having top 5 talent before he will be considered a failure?

The UT equivalent of rantards wanted to fire Mack Brown before 2005.
Mack Brown never had back to back seasons at Texas as bad as we've had the last two years. In fact, neither has anyone at LSU in the last 10 years.
quote:
No need to label him a tragic failure due to a few improvable faults.
Stupidity is not an improvable fault. A stupid person, having made a stupid mistake, might at least learn from it and not repeat the same stupid mistake again in the same situation, but he will always make new stupid mistakes in new situations.
quote:
If everyone operated like that, you and I wouldn't have jobs.
I have never fricked up in my job as badly or as often as Les Miles has in the last two years. If I had, I certainly would not have a job.

Mike Archer went from 4-7 to 5-6 from 1989 to 1990. That's an upward trend, isn't it?
The trend with the weather this year has been that it got colder from August to January, although there were several times during that span when one day was warmer than the day before was.
Creating a shitty situation and then slightly improving it is not stopping the decline. It's wallowing in it.

A losing record to a losing record could only be seen as an "upward trend" by one willing to sacrifice all creditability to push their anti-Miles agenda.
If you wish to see going from 7th in the SEC and unranked to 3rd in the SEC and ranked as slightly improving a shitty situation, knock yourself out. I disagree cause while not being all that I want, there isn't "shitty" bout coming in 3rd in the most powerful college football conference in the world or being nationally ranked.

I see getting eliminated from the SEC West race on the same weekend of the season (Alabama game) and going from 8-5 to 9-4 as slight improvement, if any. Just because Georgia went into the shitter and we made a miraculous last minute drive against Arkie doesn't mean we were significantly better than last year.

The best way to pick out the bashers is to see how they use wins/positive performances in their effort to belittle/knock the team they claim to support.
If you wish to see going from 7th in the SEC and unranked to 3rd in the SEC and nationally ranked as no improvement or slight, knock yourself out.
I think your doing so only highlights your willingness to attack a school you claim to be nuts for to push your own personal agenda, but each to our own.

There are people who want Miles gone regardless if we win the national title. The results don't matter. They just want him gone no matter what. We know who these folk are.
