Check up on your mechanical engineering skills. The higher arches do not have to support as much weight as the lower ones would demand.
What does mechanical engineering have to do with weight?

Send an e-mail or letter to all the offending advertisers and tell them you'll not be buying their product because of this. Contact Alleva as well. Enough people complaining is the only thing that might possibly have any effect at all.
LSU needs to just run the ads during pre-game, half-time and during time outs. The boards can be programmed for that. During the game itself, there should be no ads at all. There shouldn't be any permanent ads anywhere in the stadium! Cheap, tawdry and tacky and it's worse by far at LSU than anywhere else in the SEC.
Also, don't like the two small video screems in each corner instead of one big one.
And all those big unevenly spaced/sized block structures on top of the structure as seen in the renderings are aesthetic eyesores. That's just gross negligence/incompetence in the design process (Just like the Pipe) and unacceptable
first off you want to do away with the very people that is a big portion of the programs revenue and get rid of sponsorship.... typical ignorant response....
with out even waiting for the project to be complete you complain about the bathrooms, elevators and concessions because you can see them....
you would think all fans would appreciate the upgrades to a stadium that was literally a dump In the late 90s, but like most people in this state you would rather not progress forward....good thing people like you are not in charge or have input in this now elite football program....

Looks like you are the ignorant one

What? You didn't know the HVAC system was going to support the new addition?

Thats a lot of air. Even more than the amount that comes out of the mouths of tards on this board.

Water weight...the added toilets.. maybe
The newer drawing is more congruent with the older part of the stadium with the arches being taller.

I don't care how many ads they put on anything. I like to watch the game. As long as they have a screen that I can glance up and catch a replay, I am cool. They have that now.

It looks like a design by George. Architect with Vandelay Industries.

Tell George he sucks and should be ashamed of himself for those uneven structures on the top

He already has a low self esteem.

OK this is the second reference of this. Pretty sure the rendering with uneven shite is NOT showing the finished product as there are still cranes in place. Looks like they are lowering one "chunk" of structure.
This would make a little sense as that rendering came of the CONTRACTORS website (supposedly).
I'm sure the final product will be "OK" for those that need symmetry just for symmetry sake.

I fall in this category, to me this is my only concern. I have no I dea why these would not just be hidden in the structure.

Well if you don't like the arches higher up, get used to them being there because from all of the renderings they are higher. So you better deal with it.
Just pray that they don't install a huge PVC pipe off the addition. I say this because the PVC pipe on the west upper wasn't on the architectural rendering, and they sure as he'll threw it up there.

If they did, the meltdown would be glorious

I laughed pretty hard at that comment for some reason.

Supposedly? I posted the link to the contractor's site with the photo for reference in the OP.

I guess, at the end of the day, I probably shouldn't have raised such a specific concern when either design appears to be a bastardization of the original.
Unlike plenty of respectable folks on here (who are certainly entitled to their opinions), I appreciate the west side addition as a modern and rather imposing structure. It may not be your taste but it does not fall into the trap of being a cheap copy. If it weren't for the ramps, the west deck would stand above the original stadium, giving onlookers a full view of the original structure.
The south end zone--as evidenced by the changing renderings--attempts to use the north end zone as a model but really just shifts pieces around and stretches them until the final product is out of proportion. If form follows function in design, then it appears from the renderings that the form was decided (based on the north, fine) and then stretched so that the upper deck could function in the ways that it needs to. Any visionary architect worth his/her salt (and worth the money paid in the case) would not have stretched and shuffled design elements in a way that is an insult to the original.
I'm frustrated that no one in the athletic department slowed down the expansion until a proper design could be put together.
