Bama is a vanilla O that has been held down by Ole Miss, Ky, and even Tulane to a degree, LSU knew what Bama was gonna do. #1 was in town, also old feelings, crowd frenzy, and a somewhat off-game effort by Bama was brought according to Saban and most fans we encountered, and of what I've seen of Bama this year, I agree..all played a part of an irregular game effort.

Bama despite scoring 21+6, left plenty of points off the board, a punched-out fumble at the one yard line, a 45 yard scamper to paydirt called back, a missed FG, a blocked FG,etc..

Even if I wanted to credit this past week's effort to Malleveto, is doesn't alibi a season of their work. What are the apologists smoking?

Saban and Bama will eventually have a real Offense via recruiting, instead of this inherited lot they are making due with, and we've already seen what Malleveto can do vs Richt and Meyer with full talent cupboards and longterm established programs/offensive systems. Nutt and Petrino will have talent to implemement their systems soon enough, MSU and Aub will make HC moves soon too, of which both will probably be in the direction towards competent Offensive-minded HCs..

Bama, despite being only 7-6 last year lost all six by 7 or less, and now 10-0 this year, due to having Saban, Steele, and Smart..there's at least two elite DCs in that lot..two have been major HCs.

If LSU Football carries the budget at LSU, and Defense has been your calling card through all your greatest eras and title runs, then DC is arguably the 2nd most important job title in all of LSU Sportsdom, and it requires an elite-level DC, of which LSU lacks currently..it isn't an OJT gig!

Auburn and Arkansas exposed Saban defenses with RB or FB out of the backfield routes but they had to scheme and formation to set it up. This LSU defense doesn't even need to be set up by scheme or formation, they just ignore the backs whether they are flaring out or running the wheel route

Might as well throw UF in 2003 into the mix, scored two TD's on wheel routes with the MLB 15 yards behind the RB going down the middle of the field.

It would be five games...From Bama through the Bowl game...

Consistency, and improvements should have been started from game 1! It all starts at the top, I personally do not like CO-CO or cuckoo anything. Priorities and good game Planning should equal to good/better Performance as the season progresses in all facets of the game. Then it would not appear that this team is fazing?

The players dont like the schemes, they have no confidence in the Co-DCs. Its not a healthy situation for the team where many defensive players are complaining about the schemes and calls getting in too late during the 8th game of the season.

Its beginning to affect defensive recruting too. The players themselves dont have confidence in the DCs and the recruits know that. What defensive recruit would want to play in a system where the players dont like the schemes nor have trust in the DCs, the scheme is non-aggressive, etc.... Mallory and Peveto are not known for developing talent for the next level.

It was a very bad decision to promote them to DC. Now its time for a complete overhaul. We got embarassed by FL and GA

The D did look a lot better against Bama. I'm not yet sold that they have kinks worked out. A couple more losses this season ought to buy the DCD's a bus ticket out of BR. KC.

I agree. 'Bama's pretty good offensively, but they're far from an offensive juggernaut.

And we all know Saban will be getting better QBs(if not McCarron then other,) more Julios, Trent Richardson,etc..better talent is on the way!

Saban's hauls>>>>>>>>>>Shula's hauls.

LSU knew what Bama would do, because Coach Miles called it to a T at the GIC luncheon, and Bama has used small deviation all year, just riding that elite OL's mammoth holes and their gang-tackling D.

NNNNNOOOOOOOO!

Can both their asses irregardless of the rest of the season. I agree with earlier poster in that our recruiting will be affected eventually if we dont replace Dumb and Dumber! One guy..calling all the defensive shots with complete autonomy.

If Jarrett Lee went 25/25 300 yards and 4 TDs with no INTs would he be off the hot seat?

Any time you have 2 guys doing the SAME job it's just a bad situation. That seat was hot before they even tried to sit their 4 cheeks in the one chair. We figured before it started that they both weren't going to fit, but now we understand that NEITHER of them fit.

I think Les has been looking since Pellini accepted the Nebraska gig, but I just don't think he has found what he is looking for. So now he has to patch the holes and bail the water, until he can get back to port and overhaul the situation. Hopefully that will bring some consistency back to our D, cuz this aint gonna cut it.

a) They should not be
b) There should not be 2 of them, that was the mistake at the onset.
You must have a place to have accountability.
c) We will be exposed again.

It kills me to think it, as I will have to live here the whole darn year, but should we be so unlucky to play Texas,
you will see the deficiencies.
