It's easier to blame the coach. Those of us who have played realize that our failure to execute what our coaches taught us is the reason we lostmost of the time.
SFP,Maximus, and HBT are prime examples constant critics who have no understanding of what coaches do at practice

There are some on here that will actually argue that Miles belongs in that same class of coaches. They will never be pleased.

I know it's hard but there are teams who accomplish that so it's not out of the box.
But what is out of the box is expecting it every year...we all hope for it every year...but to expect it is unreasonable!

Everyone put this idiot on ignore if possible. Anything this moron says is suspect. He is the one on the poli board who tells everyone that the actual events of 9/11 are nothing but a govt. conspiracy.
So, don't listen to anyonw who wears tin foil hats about anything.

If LSU run the table and finishes 11-2, MIles will have 4 11-win or better seasons in his 5 years at LSU, and 4-Top 5 finishes in his 5 years here.
His record will be 53-13 in 5 years, with only 3 of those 13 losses as routs:
Georgia in 2005 SECCG, Florida and Georgia last year. Most of those other 10 could have easily been victories, esp the 4 OT losses.

I love it when people use terms like "monkey fricking a football"...makes me laugh...

I think counting Wins / Losses is too simplistic and serves the agenda of some to justify mediocre performance and lack of discipline.
Personally, having been around for a long time, and I look at the above factors more than just W and L s....
To proper evaluate the record, you must look at talent, effort, progress, level of competition, etc.
A record of 10 and 2 by itself having only loss to the #1 and # 2 teams (assuming it is), is a great year. Now, if you look deeper at those losses, there is room for criticism and improvement. Anyone who accepts 10-2 as the best possible, is not giving LSU credit.
Sorta like the old saying..."show me a happy loser and I will show you a loser"
The point being, that BOTH,
accepting a 10-2 record as a good year
..and being disappointed can coexist.
..it is not a bad thing.

Ok, so honestly, who can you say could do better?
1) Saban? He's had 3 good years in his coaching career, but since he's been at Alabama, he hasn't gotten a trophy, unless you count a bowl win over Colorado. So he fits into your "happy loser" camp.
2) Petrino? Fits into your "happy loser camp".
3) Meyer? Having a helluva run, but has also had a few seasons where he has dropped 2+ games.
4) Pete Carroll? Don't get me started. Fits your "happy loser" profile.
5) Rich Rod? See #4.
6) Stoops? Look at what is going on this year.
7) Brian Kelly? We'll see what he can do, but there are no gaurantees. The big east is a borderline non-bcs conference.
The bottom line is that you can use a whole bunch of metrics to measure coaching, but at the end of the day, you can roll up 500+ yards and lose 3-4 games a season, and you will be still be judged by wins and losses.

go back and read my post AGAIN...
don't change my post to serve your purpose.
..but if you think that this team can not use improvement in many areas, you are blind.
