my only concern with recruiting and speed is at DE. LSU tends to have massive DE's, it would be nice to have a few true speed rushers. hopefully mingo will fill out a little and fit that role nicely

And he is the only one who got consistent pressure on Tebow. He had the sack and forced fumble.

Agreed. Tyson Jackson has been a disappointment for two years now.

I tell you what, we need to start recruiting players who will NEVER have bad games. I mean we to fill the roster with perfect players that never make mistakes and will NEVER let tiger fans down. I mean this type of player is everywhere and I hate the fact we cant get them to come here. Last week everyone was talking Heisman trophy for Charles Scott, but obviously we had a bad game so now its recruitings fault for not getting guys who would not have a bad game in the Swamp for this year.

You guys are unbelieveable.

I did enjoy his karate chop on Woodson and that wonderful personal foul on Wilson the play before they scored.

I also want to add that leadership plays a huge factor and we lost established leadership last year, it will not be reestablished the next year. I expected 3 losses from our Tigers this year anyway so.

An LSU commitment, Mansfield's all-everything defensive tackle Chris Davenport was TERRIBLE in this game. He showed no aggressiveness, took plays off, and instead of dominating a Winnfield offensive lne of 4 juniors and 1 freshmen (the center), Davenport was a NON-FACTOR. When he did get in on a tackle he would beat his chest and strut like King Kong. Is this what LSU's recruiting has become?

That was Chris Davenport's first of the season, after having major knee surgery. He will not jeopardize his career at this point for HS football. He is one of the top Defensive Tackles in the Nation & has proved it at many camps.

Like it or not, a fair assessment of Les miles recruiting does not paint a rosy picture. The proof is the lack of talent on this year's team and, regardless of Rivals ratings, the lack of big-time commitments, with a few exceptions, of the 2009 signing class.

Miles currently has the #3 - #5 Recruting class.

Here is just 1 example how completely lost you really are: LSU has never signed a Parade All-American Cornerback. Miles did in February 2008. Look up Patrick Johnson (Peterson).

Some of you idiots on this message board amaze me. The more posts you have on the Rant, the smarter you are about LSU football? If that's the case then we have many, many geniuses on here.

I made an observation. You don't have to agree with it; just don't be disagreeable about it.

I stand by my opinion that we need MORE speed. Why do you think we have so few QB sacks, or even hurries for that matter? Why so few sacks by the LB's?
Why so few sacks by blitzing safeties or corners?
BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GET THERE IN TIME TO GET THE SACK! Maybe that's why the coaches don't blitz more.

I was an LSU fan before most of you were even a thought in your mother's mind so don't question my loyalty. I want LSU to get better, don't you?
If you think coaches don't make mistakes in judgement concerning the ability of players, game planning, game management, recruiting, etc. then you are pretty naive.

Raising questions does not equate to disloyalty.
Turning a blind eye and ignoring needed changes, whether it be in sports, politics or anything else
is stupid.

Have a Great day.

I can see this is turning into a Saban vs Miles recruiting thing.

I'll use the 03 team for example. Do you believe Turner was/is faster then Beckwith? Do you believe Hill was/is faster then Jackson? Do you believe Spears was/is faster then Alem? Do you believe that Jack Hunt is faster then anyone in the secondary this year? I loved Travis Daniels and Corey Webster but speed demons they were not.

Now, were they more talented?? Maybe? But the biggest difference is the Defensive scheme! I'll give Saban this....the man knew how to hide a blitz! The Offense never really knew where the pressure was coming from! That's the biggest difference! Our great Co-D Coordinators believe in just lining our guys up and have the bull rush and do not even attempt to disguise the blitz!

We have speed. Sure, I think we all wish we had Holiday speed all over the field but that's not going to happen. The D coaches have to give our guys a chance to make a play! They're not doing that. They have tamed this once aggressive defensive and that is what's killing us.

With that said

You bring up concerns that should be left up to the coaches. I have faith in our coaching staff and I think they will learn from mistakes and make adjustments. I don't think LSU is slow and one can also say that this is a rebuildin year. You are going to come on here and point the finger at bad recruiting after one game? Les Miles has lost 7 games in 3.5 years, I think they will lose 2 more this year but I am not blaming it on bad recruiting or speed. I am smart enough to know programs have down years from time to time.
