Quite obviously you're still missing the point. What we're all saying is that the vulgarity will continue REGARDLESS OF WHAT SONG IS BEING PLAYED
Yep. It seems with each ban, the vulgarity gets worse with the next song choice. Let's go back to tradition and play all of Tiger Rag. "Ha ha ha ha ha assholes, assholes" now is pretty tame to what the student body is coming up with.

I just find it so comical that some of these guys are claiming that students didn't do this back in the day. Where do they think the current students learned it from?

to be even more specific, kick their arse is DEAFENING.
as someone mentioned earlier...kick their arse is nowhere near the level of suck that tiger dick bitch as far as profanity/vulgarness goes!

Not reading all 13 pages so maybe this has been mentioned or suggested. I felt like the students restrained themselves a bit on saturday...almost like the message is getting through. "Suck that tiger" was very audible, but fewer people actually finished it by saying "dick". In fact, I think going forward, it might be even funnier and more profound for the students to mute out "dick"....for example "oh, oh, oh...suck that tiger - !!"
That's just the way I saw/heard it on saturday. I totally enjoy what the students bring/add to the environment, but ommitting the word "dick" would be a good move.

Banned Tiger Rag because students sang "hahahah a-hole, a-hole"
Banned O-WE-O because students sang "you suck"
Wanting to ban Neck because of this.
What's next? Banning Geaux Tigers because some people finish with "Kick their arse"?
Dumbass obnoxiously drunk college kids are gonna be...dumbass obnoxiously drunk college kids.
Pretty soon we'll be playing, hmmm, nothing or maybe some chamber music?
I say let 'em crank up some 5 Finger Death Punch! And I'm a man! I'm 40!
Isn't America great?

Very audibly heard "suck that tiger dick, BITCH".
If it was so clear you would of heard they were saying, "suck that tigers dick, NICK!" Must not of been that clear.
Don't know if anyone else said that because I'm not reading all the previous posts.

Here is the deal. This thread will, at best, inspire a few rebellious students further express their "contemporary creativity." It gives the chant more power. They know, at a basic level, that it is not appropriate. I can't imagine anybody yelling it at the mall or in the post office. In a stadium, hidden in the crowd where a father of small kids can't punch them in the face? Woo hoo!
Go to the administration. Email or personally deliver an audio clip of what offends you. You will more than likely get results. Here? You just fire up the masses.

Vulgarity among students is nothing new, and it's not going to magically disappear.

on one side of the argument....we used to yell "bullshite" when we got a bad call......
i don't mind the "suck that tiger dick" but i did think the "frick you saban" was over the top....
i do agree with bringing back tiger rag..."assholes" is mild compared with what the students are going to come up with....
it's also a sign of the changing culture of the university....used to be the student section was filled with drunken students who weren't coherent enough to do more than yell.....and half of them would be gone by the end of football season...you now have much smarter students in the stands who don't drink as much and are much more creative!!!!

A better way to curtail this is for the administration to meet with leaders of the various campus organizations, fraternities, sororities and SGA. Talk to them like adults instead of taking things away from them like they are small children. Maybe the leaders will encourage others in their groups to not do so and it will stop or at least be curtailed to some degree.
Hell, the continual "song bannage" makes me want to cuss.

Touché. I'll mosey over to the student section and read my post to them next chance I get.

You really don't understand the distinction? Suck that tiger dick and kick their arse?

I just want Tiger Rag back...
Agreed. I think the only way you're ever going to fix this problem is to just eliminate the student section. No matter what song you provide to the student section, they'll ruin it. During my time in Tiger Band, we had to cut several songs (including Tiger Rag my sophomore year).

Could be worse. They could be yelling "kick their dicks" and "Suck that Tiger arse!"

If you don't see a difference between those two acts, I would hate to be on your side in a fight. Either side actually.

That's what I'm saying. The distinction is easy to make.

It is a statement of our increasing crudeness and the decline of civility. Students can still have fun without being foul mouthed. Their behavior is very sad.
