Better question is are there any Big East, Big 12 or Big 10 type players on this team. SEC player outside of (east) Kentucky's elite along with few from Florida and Tennesse blows. Georgia has couple and vandy one. Sidney at moo state might be only NBA type player in SEC west.

Sidney a lazy slob he'll be in Europe and the D-league longer than he'll ever be in the NBA. Jamychal Green is definitely better than him and though Chris Warren won't play in the NBA he's a great college player.

I was thinking the same thing watching the game.
There is not one player on this team who you can say that by the time they are seniors they will be an all sec type player. Some may point to Turner but I just don't see it, he has had his moments but for the most part as far as frehmen go he is averge.

I think most of the players could be role players. With Turner, Derenbecker, and possibly Stringer being pretty decent. I can't get over Ludwig being a 3 star recruit and Dotson being a 4 star. I am not sure either player will ever be a SEC caliber player.

Vandy has two all-sec caliber and future NBA players.

SEC Caliber players on our team: Ralston Turner and Matt Derenbecker and thats not really debateable. Malcolm White is also an SEC caliber player, and Storm Warren when healthy. White and Warren maybe more bench players, but they are SEC caliber bench players. Other than that, no. Dotson has been a real disappointment, Stringer as well, altough he has moments. Green won't allow this team to win. Ludwig either.

Dotson is terrible. Green has really come around this year IMO. I have hated on him in the past but for stretches he does work in there. He is SEC caliber.

I don't see it, he makes too many stupid decisions on the court

Dotson came into LSU as a slasher, but he got hurt his senior year of HS and has never gotten that quickness to the hoop back. Just my .02

-Turner doing well after injury
-Green has really come along this year after back problems but defense could improve
-Warren seems to be better last year and hasn't hit stride this year
-stringer was really hot at beginning of yr but lost confidence?
-Ludwig and Darenbacker need more experience
-White -don't know what to make of him as I had hoped he would be more dominent after transfer
If you can't hit your FREE throws you shouldn't be playing college ball, except Shaq.....and this part of our game needs help....doctor orders 1/2hour a day minimum!
Just my thoguhts

Ludwig needs way more than experience

He has no ball control, coordination in mid air, or ability to pull up and shoot. I don't think it has much to do w/ not regaining quickness anymore. It just has to do w/ him being incredibly overrated out of HS

agree Saints...he also appeared better at beginning of the year but riding the pine has a tendency to do that during a season so his confidence has taken it's toll, IMO

I could see him doing well (not as a scorer) once we have big men that actually command a bit of respect down low. If O'bryant and Hamilton are as advertised then I could see a Dotson dribble drive and kick out to Turner or another shooter working fairly well.

the team is solid. if we had a good, consistant low post guy, we could contend easily.
a big baby type of player. takes double teams, gives shooters open shots. get some more rebounds.

Ralston Turner is the only SEC caliber player TJ has brought in in 3 years. The rest of the guys are role players at best. They are all projects that could be good role players coming off the bench in their junior or senior year. All these kids better get a degree.

Tuner is easy. He is an SEC caliber player right now.
The OP said "future SEC caliber" so I think that makes Derenbecker a very easy choice, as well. By his junior year, I think he averages double digits. He can play.
It gets tougher after that, but I think White and Warren are SEC caliber assuming health and more talent around them. Like a lot of players on this team, they are role players without a go to guy and they suffer for it.
Stringer? I have to say that I find myself hoping he will be SEC caliber but not really believing it. He is a guy, though, that might look a lot better if there were people on the team who could score. Fingers crossed on him.
I cannot make a case for Dotson based on what i have seen so far. Maybe he will figure it out at some point.
Ludwig? I think I could make a decent case for him if he had redshirted last year. The kid was a classic RS but we he pretty much had to play last year. Still, I could see him as a quality sub his senior year with continued weight training.
Green? Plays hard, pretty athletic, good size, limited skills. SEC caliber sub but not starter?

I think this is the better evaluation. As the current state of the league suggest that scattered throughout the team there are "SEC caliber players." Although, I am not certain what constitutes this qualification(s). If you regard the SEC as the 5th most competitive/best conference, then yes, guys like Stringer, Warren, Darrenbecker, and Turner are at the SEC level.
If we were to take the total NCAA teams and rank LSU among them, I don't believe they could win a 3-game series against any NCAA Tournament qualifying team.
Could not beat Top 10 Big East
Could not beat Top 7 Big 10
Could not beat Top 6 Big 12
Could not beat Top 3 Pac 10
Could not beat Top 6 ACC
That's half the tournament teams almost right there, and I know we don't have the competitive fire to beat our own league's best nor the smaller conferences best teams.
In short, yes we have SEC players, but that is a terrible measuring stick to go on. Just humble opinion. C'mon 2011-2012!
