Im willing to change my opinion. Can you provide proof over multiple seasons using mlb players?
Why MLB players?
MLB hitting is in the shitter. The approach at the plate is completely different than the college game.

Do your own work. OP doesn’t need to prove anything to you.

I almost forgot about Larson. I was looking forward to seeing how he looked after a full year of college and Cape Cod.

They discount the statistics and reference articles written about MLB players who played over several seasons. Whether we want to admit it or not, most of this team will likely never make it onto an MLB roster, much less stay on one for several years. That's a different level, and most of those guys have gotten where they are b/c they can handle the pressure situations regardless.

This wasn't supposed to be a Pearson vs. Brown thread. I was posting it to praise Frey. When the game is on the line, he's the dude I want at the plate.
As for Brown, he was 2 for 18 against LHP in SEC. Enough ABs that you have to pay attention to it, but not enough to permanently bench the guy against LHPs. 18 at bats over 30 games.
Pearson hit .214 against RHP in SEC play in 42 at-bats. That's a larger sample size, yet we still see Pearson hit against RHP.
Pearson batted .083 w RISP in SEC. That's 1 for 12, and the only hit was a bunt single. It's a convenient thing to ignore if you think it means nothing.
Yes, he does... against LHPs. In fact Brown does slightly better against LHP getting on base than Pearson does against RHP. Did you want Pearson benched against LR this weekend when he faced a RHP?
OBP
.469 Josh Pearson SEC vs. LHP
.444 Josh Pearson overall
.414 Jake Brown SEC vs. RHP
.392 Jake Brown overall
.386 Jake Brown SEC
.384 Josh Pearson SEC
.333 Jake Brown SEC vs. LHP
.319 Josh Pearson SEC vs. RHP
I have no issue with Pearson starting against a LHP at all.
The problem with the platoon is what happened recently in the game we lost to Little Rock. Brown starts against the RHP. They put a LHP in and Brown gets pinch-hit by John Pearson. After a pitch or two, they put a RHP back in. Josh subs for his brother and has to bat against the RHP the rest of the game. If you leave Brown in the game in that moment, he's hitting against the RHP for the last couple of at-bats. Instead, John and Josh Pearson had 3 at bats where they faced a RHP which is their weakness and went 0-3 combined. We lost by 6. I'm not saying it would have changed the game, I'm just using it as an example of why pulling someone as good as Brown in that moment wasn't the best move.
Again, LHP starting today; start Pearson. Have Brown ready for when a RHP is put in. The problem is that Jay sometimes uses Brown to bat for Bras or Hernandez (hopefully not today, b/c he's hot) and then Brown is burned for the game.

Jake Brown ended the SEC with a .111 BA versus lefties (and it wasn’t just a few ABs).

Josh Pearson’s OB% is really good. HE GETS ON BASE.
