I was arguing in favor of a point that was valid with regards to someone's medical records/information being their own and their doctor's and care providers. Very loosely like attorney-client priviledge. Someone telling reporters that he was even admitted to a hospital violates HIPAA unless he has signed something allowing the release or he tells the providers/reporters/ambulance drivers etc. that it is OK. It is easy to disregard this in the face of someone going down in front of people on TV, but it still applies. The overblown examples were for illustration and to make a point. What if it was season-ending? I want to know just like everyone - but, the point about HIPAA is 100% valid andit is there for a very, very good reason. I put the copious amounts of beer on there voluntarily...
HIPAA it is...
HIPAA it is...

Hah - you are right, I was thinking it was Privacy and Portability off the top of my head. The ACCOUNTABILITY portion is even more appropriate for this post!

HIPAA
knowledge is good. Given what you pay to go to Tulane, you should at least know how to spell it.

None of his medical records were given out......nothing was told to me other than "is this true what The Revielle printed?"......
Answer:...."Yes"...........me "Thanks man!"

Yeah, yeah. Easy to rip on switching two letters. I know what it means and the implications it has...I was posting fast trying to support the original poster before he got ripped apart by a-holes.
No need to belabor the point...

I understand what you were saying. I just think this medical privacy shite has gone way too far, just like many other Federal laws that are based on good ideas but just are not practical in the real world. Hundreds of thousands people saw DW leave the field with a knee injury. How can info on his injury be a secret. I also think that Miles uses the law to keep injury info from the public for obvious reasons.
BTW, my anal warts are angry tonight.

Did you mean TUSPHTM, TUMC or TUHSC, I do not know of a TUHC - just sayin'...I guess there is more than one person simply trying to make a point on here.

Beckwith is a man-child and should be studied and replicated in LSU laboratories for future teams.

Figures the Tulane guys would be concerned with privacy rights when none were violated.
And I have a law degree from Tulane.

HA - This is stupid to even respond to on a football message board, but how in the heck do you know what went on? I take the fact that The Force did not violate DB's rights on faith. What kind of law is that? I was agreeing with the guy who brought up MR privacy because he had a point in an abstract sense. I have know idea what actually happened, I just trust that an ICU nurse would not knowingly violate a reg for the sake of a message board. I just would not want my records out there if I did not want them out there - who would? I never even made specific reference to the DB situation or who passed it along...

Said the same thing bro! I knew it when Derry came back out in crutches........I guarantee he wouldn't have been out there if he had just been told his season was over!

All this talk about HIPAA and not one person has said it...so I'll say it....Did anyone actually think Beckwith could have WAIVED his privacy at one time? He might have ok'ed the release of information...you do know you can do that right?

HIPAA - Just so you know every student-athlete at LSU singns a HIPAA release to the school and any media that covers them, as well as any third-party companies they work with medically.
