Former walk on here to share my thoughts on Moffitt: The spring and summer work outs were the most physically and mentally challenging things I've been through to date. Each player was evaluated and given a regimen depending on target goals and position. This wasn't like going to the rec or 24 hour fitness and working out. For spring work outs, two players were assigned one personal trainer. That personal trainer was assigned to break you. This was ten years ago. Maybe Moffitt has changed, but when I was there.. it was something else.
I'm sure it was tough, but its about work smart not hard (though it is).
Curly Hallman worked the life out of his players...…..like awful. How'd that go?

Can someone refresh my memory of strength coach during Saban years at LSU. I think I recall him utilizing alternative fitness/agility like ballet and martial arts. I don't think I am making this up, but could be.
Would it be wrong to try to poach prior Saban staffers or current assistants. I believe that his system is so well controlled and run that members of his staff will be similar. You may hate the guy but his system works and his disciples could be a benefit in taking down the evil genius.
Its like Chick-fil-A. You never have a bad experience no matter what store you visit.

They should be able to put weight on Brennan. He looks like he hasn't gained a pound though.
As a lifelong skinny person who put on 20 lbs of muscular body weight in a few months of weight training and overeating (at 37 years old and with no strength coach to help me), it’s unbelievable to me that Brennan weighs a single pound less right now than they want him to weigh.
A 20 year old underweight male with the nutrition and training available to LSU football players should have no problem gaining lots of weight.
He should weigh 220 right now.

My two cents:
- How are other teams scoring and we're not?
- Our players rate about where Bama's do at the combine. Herron and Lac probably out performed theirs last spring.

It was Moffit and yes they did all that nonsense. They weren’t facing the likes of 2018 Alabama back then.

I’m just wondering here, but who put Moffitt into the position he currently holds at LSU.
Tommy Moffit was hired in 2000 by the guy who coaches the team that just kicked our arse.

Might it be the same guy who now tells us that being ranked 13th in anything among SEC programs constitutes a “great” job???
His well-deserved reputation makes him untouchable in the LSU Athletic Department. I suspect that both Miles and Orgeron were both told that Tommy Moffitt was going to stay whether they wanted him or not. Based on this same reputation, I suspect Miles and Orgeron were happy to sign up for keeping him.

I always thought summer workouts and strength work was to amplify the physical skills you already had. Moffitt can get guys in shape to play 60 minutes for 12 games, which I don't think anyone can argue with. But he can't teach blocking or increase a kid's natural athletic ability.
Moffit is an easy of a scapegoat for LSU getting physically overmatched by a more physically talented team.

My point is really more about the tests conducted not the actual substance. The NCAA does not test most athletes. The University does. You think Alabama a school that lets guys with firearms and drugs play cares about steroids? Our players are the same size as theirs and train just as hard but get manhandled. You think that's because they spend more time in the gym or have some secret workout plan? Come on man. No way. Our offense sucks on top of all that but I've been convinced for years them dudes are on some serious shite. Just look at the necks on some of them. Savion Smith was a bean pole here now all of a sudden he's 25-30 lbs heavier? Plus he failed drug tests and couldn't pass classes now he's rehabilitated and a scholar.
Well, i am 100% positive that Nick Saban would NEVER do any such thing.
People are delusional to think that the gumps are willing to do whatever it takes to win. Whatever it takes.

You're correct, Mister. Dr. Jeffrey Burnham taught them martial arts and was also one of the team doctors. Then dufus bafoon Miles came in and got rid of that.

Bingo
Again, the scheme installed by Ensminger the O.C. is the biggest problem. I'm not sure why Booger didn't mention this.

The biggest difference is they have better technique. Yeah they're physically better but they don't make many little mistakes either. Going back to his days here, Saban has always been about attention to detail to an almost insane degree.

You don’t need drugs to gain that weight. You need a program focused on making you stronger, even at the expense of a body fat increase.
25 lbs could easily be accomplished between January and June.
Then you can focus on conditioning in the summer and come down a bit to playing weight while keeping almost all of the strength.
And yes, I know that Moffitt knows more about this stuff than I do. But is Moffits goal to help the smaller guys gain weight? I don’t know. There are some examples that make you wonder.

I said it after Saturday night, but you look at our DL and their DL they look like men and we look like boys still shedding baby weight.
They just recruit leaner more athletic linemen then we do.

The old school method of working harder, but not necessarily smarter may be in play here. There's a hell of a lot more evidence that timing of workouts/recovery/nutrition is much more important that just busting your arse to exhaustion (I realize I'm oversimplifying this).
What I know for sure is the end result is clear, our guys don't look as fast/explosive as some of the truly elite lines. Maybe it's recruiting or maybe it's conditioning/training, but my bet is on a combination of both.

I personally think the Bama players are taking supplements that we arent.
Those guys are swole.

This. Once we lost 1/9/12 in that fashion the recruiting world turned on us. Perception Perception Perception. This was the start on the Louisiana talent exodus to bama.
Nah, we took them to OT in 14. They didn't look stronger, they got the benefit of some shite calls.
13 was the fumble on the goaline. We should have been up 2 scores on them. Diff game without the turnovers.
