I love it because it's one of the first songs they play before football games. It carries well in the stadium.

I was always under the impression that the first year it was played was 1985.

I was in Boys State that summer, and Dave Gresens (LSU Drum Major) was in charge of the Boys State Band, and he handed out the music for Boogie Down and said something to the effect that we were the guinea pigs for that one. It was a fun piece and I loved it. And it has been played at every LSU athletic event with a band present since then.

I could be wrong.
