Brando does his show from Shreveport...he knows a bunch about LSU football and isn't an LSU "boot-licker" like the guys who are on the beat.

His opinions are usually on and he shows LSU much love. Just 'cuz he says something that may offend the hard core PosiTigers, it doesn't make it less true.

Either this Senior class wasn't as talented as advertised or their full potential was never tapped.

I think Lafell's issues were more his 40 time and the drops/ inconsistency than the QBs. he led the SEC in TD receptions the last 2 yrs, and his numbers for 09 weren't far off what he did in 08 (TDs actually were up). the NFL won't hold your QB against you that much if they see something they like (see Calvin Johnson).

Who's expectations? Considering most LSU 'tards think every recruit we have is A BEAST, should start immediately, be 2 time AA, leave early, and be drafted in the top 10, it is almost impossible to even meet LSU fans' expectations, much less exceed them.

yeah, no. Brando might have "knowledge" but his thought process sucks cock. His opinions are usually atrocious on anything college football.

I actually used to kind of like Brando until I started listening to his radio show a bit. But I could only stomach a few listens. I don't believe there is anybody more in love with himself than that douche.

I have a terrible time with the notion that players are not developed collegiately by coaching staffs.
If you are a football coach and you rise to the level of coaching any position at a major college, surely you are capable of developing players.
Granted not all coaches are equal and some are more known for player development. But come on at some point the players too have a personal responsibility to their development. It truly makes me wonder if this last group of players did not “buy in” to the system.
Just as in our jobs if we are not happy with our assignment or our boss we do not always put our best effort forward.

....who BTW, hasn't developed either!!!

This is just one example.....

Neither has TJ Yates from UNC. I just bring that up because I've seen Butch Davis' name tossed around here for the next head coach after Miles' tenure at LSU.

If I recall, B. Lafell was rated about a 3-star player coming out of HS, so if anything he probably achieved more than he should have

he was a top 10 WR on ESPN

My guess is Laron Landry.

4-star ATH

There aren't that many 5-star recruits across the country each year, & LSU hasn't had that many over the years.

true

if we want to guestimate, mike clayton and spears were likely translateable to "5-star" and they both went in the 1st (way too high for themm also)

Lafell had too many drooped passes to completely blame the Qb.

Hate to say it, but I agree. Which player(s) over the past few years have done a Hester and exceeded expectations?

Gosh, i would say a lot. Tyson jackson, three star out of high school to top 10 pick last year. Dorsey was a top 100 guy coming out of high school but not even close to the number 1 d tackle, he was drafted as #1 d.t., Jamarcus wasn't the #1 qb coming out of h.s. but was drafted as the #1 player over all. laron landry wasn't close to the top 10 overall player out of high school but was drafted in the top 10. Brandon l. was a three star guy who developed into a third round pick. Perry rilely three star to drafted in fourth round. chevis jackson three star to second round. that's just a few. there are more.

all this talk about development doesn't make sense to me. so a coach can develop a guy to be top draft choice like jackson or patrick peterson but can't with a woods? didn't jackson and woods receive the same coaching?

what about joe mcknight, taylor mayes, brandon spikes, Mitch Mustain, hazelton ect. were they under developed? they weren't drafted as highly or at all. they were all rated high and highly recruited coming out of high school.

if stoops is so great at development, then why is this the only year since 2003 he has multiple first round picks? did he not develop guys in 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, ect.

the draft is based on talent and it's potential. if you hit on your recruiting, you're going to do better in the draft. if you miss on some of the recruits, you wont. how would the draft had looked had ryan p. charles dees, j powe, and other highly rated h.s. players made their grades and not had character issues? The coach has a limited part in this.

Isn't it fair to attribute a bit of this to the coaching of Bo Pelini?
