That was also Moo State doing that to us. Moo fricking State!!! What the frick do you think Bama is going to do to us? Every player on their front 7 is as good as or better than Simmons.

Just answer the question. You don't have to avoid it. Mississippi State is much improved on defense this year. Bama is much better, but state is no slouch. You think the fact the Brennan might get hurt against a team we play 2 months from now is a legitimate reason not to play him?

We shall see. Right now if he steps on the field, he could get seriously injured. Not the kid's fault. He will be put into a death trap of a situation.

The kid weighs 200 pounds and is way tougher than you are giving him credit for
It's not like Etling got hit a bunch, he was pressured 35% of the time, which is not some horrible amount in college football

Give them both reps Myles and Lowell
Against Troy and Syracuse it would be criminal not to. Play Etling in the 1st quarter against Syracuse, Brennan in the second. Narcisse splits with Brennan in 2nd half. Etling should play maybe one series against Troy.

Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, etc have a plethora of top quality professional level athletes. Why is LSU playing a QB? A third stringer from Purdue?

I'll tell you why: money has changed hands or favors have been bought.

Hard to argue with even though I think Etling is ok, not good or great

My assumption is that their thought process after Saturday's arse kicking is that the OL is not good enough to be a misdirection pound and play-action team. So they're thinking maybe spread quick game is the way to go to negate OL deficiencies. Maybe they feel like Brennan would be a better fit for that than etling. The issue I would have with that, were it the case, is that I didn't see our wr's win vs man very much Saturday night. Nor did I see any dedicated man-beater concepts. State ran man-beater concepts to great effect. We seemed to just assume our wrs could win their route vs man (they didn't).

Play him in the next two games. That's fine. Play him against Bama, he's going to get hurt and we will still look like shite even if he doesn't. Brennan is not the savior of this team. I dgaf how good he may or may not be. To think that any QB would look good behind this Oline is just ridiculous.

They ALL have much better Olines than we do.

It's not about him looking good and it's not about him being a savior. Nobody thinks Brennan turns us into a playoff team. People just want him to get significant playing time so he isn't so wet behind the ears next year.

That's why you play him in games like we have the next two week. Play him against Ole Miss and A&M. They have defenses that aren't going to be able to push any of our Olinemen around. Just don't put him in against Bama, Auburn or Florida. He will get killed.

And the fact that Etling decided now he needs to step up and be a leader concerns me... Sure say that now when you got Syracuse and Troy coming up...

Stop with the hyperbole. Our OL isn't as bad as they looked and Brennan is not going to get killed. He's a football player. He can take a hit. People concern themselves too much with protecting young QBs.

That's hindsight. They didn't suck when people were calling for them to take snaps.

So how do you know what Brennan will do? And what will you say if he struggles?

The Oline play was bad Saturday night but it wasn't as bad as you seem to think. MSU's Dline was really freaking good, maybe the best we will see until Bama.

Absolutely it would. Allowing your QB get the snap in the shotgun not having to drop back makes it easier to read and react to defenses and see pressure coming. Everything is already in front of you and you don't have to worry about dropping back or guess where he rush is coming from, not to mention you can roll out laterally instead of running backwards or shooting a gap to avoid pressure. Passing from the shotgun makes 5 yard slants/out throws much easier than having to drop back and make the throw because 1) it takes too long (i.e., the WR may be open while dropping back) and 2) the QB can't set his feet in time to make an timed/accurate throw. Consistency with those plays keeps the defensive front honest and neutralizes the rush. Its a matter of a 1.5 second play and a 3 second play.

No, WRs were getting open the problems were the under thrown balls and the drops. Not to mention if Etling felt pressured he wouldn't make the throw. Having said that, I think Etling could be successful in the shotgun considering it gives him less to think about physically and more time to focus on reading and reacting. On the same token, Brennan may be able to run the offense more efficiently under center and in the shotgun. Lets give the kid a chance to see if he's a gamer. The lord knows we are due for a diamond in the rough at QB.

I am not, by any means, saying Brennan should start.
