There isnt one responsible on field… it’s all spread out between coaches and split up duties. Teaching leverages, blocking assignments, etc is fine for different coaches, because that’s how it usually works, but who will encompass all that be responsible for overall scheme?
Its like you didnt even read what kelly said.

I guess we will see. Something had to change because we were really bad last year and that may be understated. All I know it was not just because we put the ball on the ground too much. It was a total system break down. Some of it may have had to do with roster numbers. Like I said I will give him the benefit of the doubt. Here is to a great year next season!

Kelly has a sole ST coach on field? Or one by name only?

The coordinator on the field is Jancek. No one can answer what the question implies because we quite literally haven't seen it yet.

Ah, Jancek, who has never been a ST coach… thanks

Many here saying this approach takes away accountability you'd get with one coach in charge. I say it's the opposite. If we have a few blocked PATs or FGs, Davis is on the hot seat. If KR and PR coverage sucks, House is on the hot seat, and so on. Actually centralizes accountability in a good way, IMO.

So if House has the defense rolling but his unit/part in special teams sucks, he’s on hot seat? What do you do to adjust? Kick him off ST during season? Let someone else takeover, but what if they are worse?
I guess it’s all a wait and see approach. Im just skeptical.

I go back to the fake field goal work under Les Miles and how incredibly effective that stuff was.
The Brad Wing taunting call against Florida still hurts my heart!

I always kind of laugh at this stuff, and it is pretty prevalent. What do you think a ST coordinator does? Let's take the idea to its logical conclusion, though. What if you had a ST coach that had never been a kicker, long snapper, or punter, would that be ok? What if he had been one of those, but never a gunner or covered a kickoff?
In most instances, the ST coordinator isn't the guy that is teaching your specialist how to do their job, like kicking and punting. They are responsible for implementing the coverage/blocking schemes, having the specialty ready to go on the field prior to being needed, and they are primarily responsible for scouting/self-scout during game week preparation. Jancek is qualified to coordinate the special teams. He probably isn't qualified to help a kicker or punter do those tasks, but the vast majority of ST coaches aren't either.

Ranked 100s in special teams is more than 'putting the ball on the ground' ...nothing was sound.
We lost our dynamic punter, golden legged nfl drafted place kicker, and our regularly out of the end zone kickoff specialist.
There's critical value in using scholarships on kickers.

LSU's punt return scheme sucks. I can tell you that.

this pretty much means ST will probably be pretty stale and mundane
Compared to last year I am all for this.
If you are competent on offense and defense you don’t need your special teams to win games you just need them not to lose them.

Good point.
I’m cool with it, i trust BK

I don’t think most are worried about individual coaches. It is a worry about the head guy leading them and how all have extra responsibilities other than their specific specialty. Think about what happened when we hired Jake Peetz…

This sounds like an awful solution. Nobody will be held accountable.

Brian Kelly will be held accountable by the fans.
I’m sure people will be held accountable in the program by Brian Kelly we just won’t necessarily know who that is.

Yeah but calling plays on offense VS Special teams is different.
