Amazing to think over 15 games, they actually averaged 48.4 points per game, considering how much they left on the table. If they were coached by Steve Spurrier, Urban Myer, or Ryan Day, they'd have really ran up the score.
I like that Coach O has sportsmanship, but I'd have liked to see my team (no matter the sport or league) go Spurrier for a year because it's not often you can do that, and why not really obliterate the bar if you can?

Yeah, the kid needs to pursue either energy or medicine for his post-NFL career. He can solve cold fusion or cure cancer or whatever he sets his mind to accomplish.
Let's break it down from a "these numbers look like bullshite" standpoint:
Before 2019, a "great" LSU passer would throw for 18 to 22 TDs, and "elite" was 28. Now? Burrow's 60 is 10% better than the previous 2 BEST seasons combined (28, each, Mauck, 2003 + Russell 2006) and is roughly equivalent or better to ANY THREE other seasons by ANY passer(s) ever (Hodson 1989 and Mett 2013 were 22 each, plus Flynn's 21 in 2007 would be 65).
Despite playing in only 2 seasons (albeit 2019 was a 15-game one), came up only 1 1/2 (roughly) games short of catching Hodson's 4-year starter passing yardage record.
Before 2019 - no LSU receiver caught more than 12 TD passes in a single season (Dwayne Bowe, 2016), and only 7 others caught 10 or more. In 125+ years.
In 2019 - ALL THREE starting receivers caught 13 or more. ALL THREE, plus, again, Chase's 20 is about equivalent to any TWO seasons by LSU receivers in history (yes, Bowe with 12 and 4 guys with 11 would be a little more in 2 seasons, but after that, he doubles anybody else).
And we still had a 1400+ yard rusher. CEH quietly slipped into 3rd best rushing season OF ALL TIME - a team that has produced the likes of Cannon, Stovall, Hilliard, Guice, Jeremy Hill, Kevin Faulk, ONLY Leonard Fournette and Charles Alexander had more rushing yards in a season.
And those two guys were running in a system built for them to run and gain yards. CEH did it quietly, one hard run at a time, in an offense built to throw the ball with the run as the changeup.
Having said all of that - Joe Burrow didn't brazenly brag that we would do it. He calmly, confidently said we would do it and, if anything, understated it.

I'm not sure what season you watched, but if we didn't obliterate the bar for offense - not just at LSU, not really just at the P5, but for CFB, generally, it will do until "obliteration" comes along.

And little did we know or dare to imagine, but he was under-selling it......
