Sophomore season about to hit different

Nice job UTEP of inserting an edgy social media buzzword.

Of course, "hitting different" for UTEP means scratching their way to a 6-6 record and a coveted New Mexico Bowl invite

So you all think we are going to pay Wade's buyout at NC State, then pay him a hefty salary here?

1) The state of Nebraska sucks except for 2 weeks in Omaha in June.

Great. You sent him to a school where the teachers are fricking each other....

Why exactly???… it’s 10 minutes (w/o traffic) from the PMAC

The logistics are a nightmare. It just is not feasible to host 12 volleyball matches, 15-17 men's basketball games, 15-17 women's basketball games, and 5-6 gymnastics meets in that shitty building. It would cost LSU a LOT of money. Where will the teams practice? What will they use for locker rooms?

I know people in event management who work at both the PMAC and the River Center and they all say that such an arrangement would be an idea that is beyond awful and almost impossible to pull off.

None of whom have played in at least 35 years.

This is like Nebraska football trying to hold on to relevance now and saying "Come play here! We were great a long time ago!"

team can play in the River Center until it’s done

No, no, and HELL no. This is not a viable option and is a terrible idea.

Multiple times over the past few years during men’s bball games they don’t even have the stats section show up on the video board until midway through the 1st half.

This is true. I don't know who is in charge of that. But I was referring to the quality of the actual video played on the board.

Definitely not one of the greatest endings of all time since it meant absolutely nothing in the historical context of the season

This take kinda sucks. It absolutely was one of the greatest endings of all time to a playoff game. It doesn't matter what happened the next week.

You going to also say the Bluegrass Miracle wasn't one of the greatest endings to a game because LSU got beat by Alabama 31-0 the next week?

5. Replace any person associated with marketing, promotions, graphic design, merchandising, video board operation, etc... Every one of them is mediocre to terrible at what they do.

This will never happen because these people work all the other sports and not just men's basketball.

There is nothing wrong with the video board production. Those guys are actually very good at what they do, from the cameramen to the people directing them from the studio.

And I would be in favor of keeping the old players around if they so choose and if the coach so chooses.

And there is nothing wrong with the court. The women have won a lot of games on it.

But in general, I agree with the gist of your post. Something something drain the swamp.

I have sat in that building twice in the last 2 weeks and watched Kentucky hit buzzer beaters to be us (that is how the women lost to them also)

Thank you, your reply was the first honest one.

Now, about the elephant on the room. SGA. Lets talk about it.

Lots of talk how he gets all these calls. But lets dig deeper. He has the most basket drives in NBA for 5 years running. The paint is where lots of contact happens.

If a player just dribbled straight they would not be a good player. So every player has moves they make to counter defense. The level of moves is what separates good from great. MJ had some of best moves of his era and it frustrated defenses.

SGA is one of most craftiest and finesse ball handlers of current times. He has learned over his life how to make sudden moves and if anyone watches him with the ball he’s the best there is. He can stop on a dime and change directions and its a skill that few have.

He catches lots of defenders off guard because they can’t move in the same fashion. So he gets a lot of calls from that skill. Its what basketball is all about. He only shoots about 24% of his shots from 3 and drives more than and other player.

Those moves make his hard to guard and ref. Because its so hard to defend he will get calls.

On the flip side, take Doncic. He shots around 45% of his shots from 3. Means he drives way less than SGA. Yet his FT rate is higher. And others are like that too. You have less contact from 3 range than driving, so it stands to reason a driving player will get more contact and fouls called.

It also creates a dilemma for refs. He’s going to have more questionable calls because of that extra contact. Its not easy to ref because he is so shifty. There will also be more film of his bad calls because he drives more than anyone else. If you took other players rates of fouls while driving they would be similar, but since SGA does it most he will get more driving calls.

If you look at reality, SGA doesn’t lead the NBA in FTs. Which in reality due to most drives he should. I posted that data here over the last week.

Anyways, no one will ever be happy. Doncic is the worst complainer of top players. He whines every trip down the court and even doesn’t get back to defend because he’s yelling at refs. SGA rarely complains to them.

Most here don’t watch any games from SGA, they see some clip on social media and post it as happening every play. Watch a full game and see how crafty he is moving with ball. He has a perfect body to do so and its a hard skill to achieve. Thats what basketball is about, being able to dribble well and move to make baskets or passes. He’s great at it.

I don't give two shits about the NBA, Wemby, or OKC. It is clear that the defender was trying to undress Wemby and Wemby did what he needed to do to get the foul called.

It is hard for anyone to take you seriously because you are so unobjective. You are like the angry 8 year old kid who thinks everyone everywhere is trying to cheat his team. It is annoying.
