Do you understand what confirmation bias actually is?

Because it has absolutely nothing to do with my post. I'm actually arguing for the opposite, and suggesting that LSU does the statistically sound thing. I actually took it a step further and gave the benefit of the doubt based on, as alttiger suggested, being aggressive when you struggle to generate runs.

There have been several threads with that make statistical arguments against what lsu has done, especially when it comes to bunting.

I love data analytics and risk assessment. I've made my career out of it.

Cann't speak to the other two players but it's widely known that Byrd literally demanded that he be guaranteed to start the next..this...year. A rich kid prima donna type player. No loss. As for throwing players under the bus: Skip had his PhD in that: walking to the mound to pull a pitcher getting hammered. Pitcher apologized. Skip: I need to apologize to you for recruiting you". Talk to any of his former players/their parents. CPM can not hold a candle to what Skip used to do.

I haven't heard anyone have a problem with what PM says to the players privately.

Yes, and it's what you're doing. You get frustrated when you see a guy get caught stealing and then the guy behind him hits a double, and so you remember those instances more because they support your belief.

And if you really understood statistics, rather than just having some formulas memorized for your job as an actuary or whatever, you'd know that changing your strategy based on the perception of the team being on hot or cold streak at the plate is a bad idea.

And yeah, we sometimes bunt when we shouldn't as do most teams college and pro, but that wasn't the topic being discussed.

It seems every time a runner gets on, it's a hit and run or steal and it has not worked out well at all. Against Tulane, runner on first, one out. He steals and gets thrown out. Next batter gets a hit. Instead of two on with one out, thers's one on with two out.

If you are talking about Fraley being thrown out at second that play was on Romero. It was a 2-1 count usually means a fastball coming so the call is a run and hit. You steal and if the pitcher throws a fastball for a strike, which he did, you swing anything off speed you take because odds are your runner will beat the throw.

Stealing on a 2-1 pitch hoping for him to throw a fastball?! Surely, you jest? 2-1 is not a fastball count to the middle of the lineup. And you never hope to straight steal on a fastball. How is that on Romero at all?

Ok let's pretend to agree that 2-1 is not a fastball count so then the steal was a good call and if say that the steal was called from the dugout a veteran hitter like Romero that is also a catcher should know if I get a fastball I have to protect my runner by at least swinging to slow the catcher down. So if he is sitting fastball which he should have been then he should have swung because it was a hittable pitch.

No no no. I'm fine with the steal call. But a hitter isn't responsible to protect unless it's a hit and run. If it's high and out, he's still supposed to swing? No. And "sitting" a pitch isn't an approach many players have.
