Keith Bulluck at Syracuse was a Strong Safety projected to go in the first round also at safety. He was 6'3" 225 in college and switched to linebacker. Now he is one of the best current linebackers in the NFL and weighs 235. CJ just needs to add 5-10 lbs and he will be one hell of a LB and still get selected in the first round.
thats all he needs to do!! just add 5-10lbs.....

speed is very important for a linebacker but it's not one of the most important things. in order to get to the qb or running backs you first have to get through what people call the big uglys. men that are 300+lbs.now iam not saying cj is not strong. he is not built for the postion at linebacker, he has speed to play there, but so does alot of other people. why not put kw,cs there fast and big, because you need to be built for it
I never said that speed was the only issue. If I allowed you to draw that inference from my post, I was obviously too vague. There are several issues that need to be considered: speed, strength, size, instinct, desire to hit, etc. Chad Jones possesses almost all of the prerequisites.
As to your other question “Why not put KW, CS there”? The reasons are numerous, but I will list the obvious ones: because they are not defensive players, because they have never been trained as defensive players, because their talents are more suited for the offensive side of the ball and they are too valuable to our team as offensive players.
Now, if you want to ask a question about CS being moved to fullback (instead of linebacker) that would be reasonable. As a matter of fact, that is very close to the CJ to linebacker discussion. We need to find ways to get them both on the field.

Why? You've got the prototype for a safety. The mentality, the speed, the size, etc. Why mess with that? Usually coaches change a players position because they played out of position in highschool or because of desparate needs. That's not the case here. Jones will be on the field a ton this year without having to move him to linebacker. Nickelback, nickelback, nickelback. Say that instead of linebacker. When he's not starting at or spelling someone at safety, he will be a nickelback. Jeez.

Exactly. Why is this so damn hard for people to understand?

Is there a reason for me to state the obvious shite. Play hard, study, practice, stay motivated, kill QB's, etc... NO shite SHERLOCK! Everyone thinks they fricking know everything there is about positional needs and requirments. Trust the coaches, root for the team, and with each player the best of luck. CJ will be one freaking awesome SS or LB. "He as the talent to do both." See that. I can do it too, pretend I know the outcome based on stupid opinions and fake knowledge.

All I have to say is I agree with keeping him on the field. He is an outstanding athlete. I think he will do well at whatever position he is playing.

He has the talent to do both at the college level. He has early first round talent at safety. He would be a project at the linebacker position in the NFL.

anybody can be trained to tackle at this level,
i know there is more to it.i wasn't saying put kw and cs at linebacker i was making a point that they are fast like cj and since everybody saying they should move him there because of his size and speed why not kw and cs.moving a player to linebacker is like moving a wide out to qb you are the qb of the d.
