We will not utilize the Tight end this year per the usual. Surprised if any tight end has more than 10 catches on the year.

I'm still shocked legit TE prospects still come to LSU. It's rather pathetic we can't find a way to use them in the passing game.

I expect Quinn to be similiar to OBJ freshman year. Dupre is a supreme athlete, but needs to get more physical as you said. I expect him to be #2 next year (I think we have Dural for 2 more seasons), and then take over the #1 role for his junior year. A lot like Reuben Randle's career played out here.

Les Miles is 95-24 at LSU in his nine year careers. Please point out five coaches who have been at their job for at least five years who have a better winning percentage.

Miles has won 10 games seven times. Before his arrival, LSU had won 10 games seven times in its entire history. But we play more games now, and that's true. He's also had seven season with 3 or less losses. LSU had done that 10 times in the previous 30 seasons (and that's with less chances to lose).

He's not just the best coach in LSU history, it's not even close. Deal.

As nice as it is to point to positive stats about Les. I think this year will be the biggest test of his coaching career. With so many question marks & a schedule that isn't a cakewalk. LSU could be in for a long season.

it would be kinda hard to beat 2008 as "biggest test of his coaching career"

Look, not making the national championship is one thing. But give it three years when LSU isn't even making the playoffs with that 9-3. Watch tempers flare around here.

I think this years team has more questions than the 08 campaign. Not to mention, the overwhelming sense of optimism because of the unproven talent we just added to the team.

Back to the TE decision: Wouldn't you think with two green QBs, that including the experienced TE's in the game would improve our offensive production? It's just very strange that we completely ignore this part of our offensive philosophy.

THIS!!!! x 1,000,000

If I was a big TE prospect, I wouldn't even consider LSU......most under utilized position in our offense.

Let's not make this thread about Les. It's about the players and Hanigriffs thoughts and perception.

This is the time for renewed optimism. Not only are you in a pissy mood about this season (which hasn't even started yet) you are in a shitty mood about the next three years. I honestly want to know why you watch football/joined this site/post.

With exception of last year, Cam's always used tights ends heavily in his offenses. This was written last week.

Exactly. Les is at best a 2 loss per year coach. Yet every year some tards on this board predict undefeated seasons and national championships. 2 losses is always our best case scenario as long as Les is coach.

I mean 2011 was literally 3 years ago.

DeSean Smith & Jacoby Washington should be questioning what the coaches told them during the recruiting process. It's complete bullshite that we aren't using guys like this more.

Maybe because our best receiving tight end was a true freshman and we had two 1,000 yard WRs last season and the last legit receiving TE we had before that was Richard Dickson.

If our TEs are viable targets and present match-up problems for the defense, we will use them. Plain and simple, we will do what best facilitates a successful offense.

You understand what I'm saying...

The TE position has been an enigma at LSU since 07.

I fail to understand how Smith could be upset that he didn't get many targets as a true freshman when we had two 1000 yard WRs and 1000+ yard RB, or how Washington could have a gripe, considering he hasn't played a down yet.

Right, because our offense has either sucked arse every year since then or we haven't had decent receiving tight ends. It's not like we're expressly telling our QBs to avoid throwing to TE's.

While I also think that we need to use TE's more in the passing game, maybe they still come here because a blocking TE is more important to the NFL. Pass catching TE's get cut in camp every year because they can't block well. The Jimmy's and Gronk's of the world are an exception, not the rule.
