Well, I read a few more posts. I can't believe some of you people are actually saying CS.

Shows me how much you people know about football.

Well, it's hard to guage CS entirely when he's not allowed to score more than 1 td a game.

not doubt Scott is a better Tiger than Collins...many, many are and will be. But I'm not sure there has ever been a player with as much raw talent at LSU as Cecil.

i think collins was great, but vastly overrated

and it appears that the legend of his abilities grows every year

i mean people said DMac wasn't as good as him. that's RIDICULOUS

see i'm not even taking that into account

cecil is just seen as this myth more than anything, and it grows every year

a pretty close comparison...I talked with an assistant at LSU at the time he was being recruited at a bar in New Orleans during the SEC basketball tourney, can't remember his name. He said Cecil would start over Kevin Faulk his freshman year...of course he didn't qualify. I've seen a ton of running backs, and Cecil had it all.

what, weren't you about 2 when he played. Rohan is more in the category you are talking about.

Not sure about that. I'm assuming you're basing the overrated tag on sample size. But take Keiland Williams for example. His sample size is less than Hester or Scott and yet to me (and I know some will disagree with me here, but that's another subject), he just looks like the better back. Sometimes you can just watch a guy and tell he's just flat out good. I think that was the case with Collins. I mean you could just watch Collins run and then watch Faulk run and tell Collins was a better runner.

It's very similiar to Bo Jackson's pro career. I mean, obviously he doesn't have the pedigree of an Emmitt Smith. But I would be willing to bet you wouldn't find many people who would say Emmitt was a better runner.

no way

cecil wasn't nearly as explosive as DMac

DMac has the record for best rushing game in SEC history

DMac has more impressive games against good run Ds

and DMac proved it over a much larger sample

i use that with people's arguments, but i base it off of so many people saying he was the best RB of all time

i mean take him...look at what he did against VT in limited carries. just as impressive as any of collins' games

i dunno this one is tough. i think bo is overrated as a RB also, but just b/c ne never showed "it"

not that i think smith is great, but lots of people are on his dick

Cecil was special. Scott can be special. Cecil had outstanding vision and acceleration. Scott has good vision.

Too early to tell.

most yard != best

CC's 232 against Auburn was a top 5 rushing performance in the SEC...at least as good as DMac's record vs. the LameCocks

again, best meaning raw talent and potential. He is no where near the best in terms of actual production. KW is as close to Cecil as I've seen to this point in the raw talent department, but has already surpassed him in production.

That's what I'm saying...I think Williams is the best running back we have, and I'm basing that on very limited playing time. He's as talented an LSU runner as anyone I've seen since Collins. If he quit the team tomorrow, I for one would say he was one of the best we ever had, simply based on watching him, because it surely wouldn't be based on stats.

See, I don't think so. Again, he was limited by injury, but when he was healthy and playing he was a horse. People forget he had impressive stats and that was splitting a lot of time with Marcus Allen.

dude DMac averaged 9.4 ypc with THIRTY FOUR carries against USC in 2007

DMac had 206 against LSU in 2007, he also had 195 @ Bama in 2007

in 2006 DMac had 182 agains LSU (8.7 ypc), 181 against UTenn, 219 @ USC, and 145 @ Auburn

*ETA: and in EVERY ONE of these games DMac shared carries!
