Jake Meyers was scratched from tonight's lineup due to back spasms, per the Astros.

RIP in peace.

Crying like a bitch because all his nonsense about the hitting coaches not being responsible is being shoved up his arse.

it’s an eyewash nothing quote that people with nothing better to do are using for clicks and impressions. “we’re going to do different things with a player who sucked the past two months.” revolutionary!

“Nothing quote”??? Hey Rome…explain how in those 2 months, he managed to achieve career lows in every meaningful category. Not to mention the nothing quote came from a guy whose unit put up these numbers. He might know what he’s talking about.

In Popkins' first season in charge of the Blue Jays' offense, the team employed a contact-first approach and finished the 2025 regular season leading MLB in several offensive categories while ranking near the top in others. The Blue Jays led MLB with a .265 batting average, a .333 on-base percentage (OBP), and 1,461 hits. They recorded 1,099 strikeouts, the second-fewest in MLB ahead of the Kansas City Royals' 1096 strikeouts. The Blue Jays ranked third in MLB with a .760 on-base plus slugging (OPS), which was second in the American League (AL) behind the New York Yankees' .787 OPS. They tied for third in MLB with the Chicago Cubs with 771 runs batted in (RBIs), ranking second in the AL behind the Yankees' 820 RBIs. The team ranked fourth in MLB with 798 runs scored, which was second in the AL behind the Yankees' 849 runs scored.

The Blue Jays finished the 2025 postseason leading MLB in almost every offensive category with 667 at bats, a .285 batting average, a .352 OBP, a .471 slugging percentage (SLG), a .823 OPS, 28 home runs, 99 RBIs, 190 hits, 36 doubles, 105 runs scored, and 314 total bases.

We will inevitably regret not moving Pena

I agree and I don’t understand why that hasn’t been mentioned as an option that would solve the infield logjam. His stock has never been higher. I know Correa has made comments about playing 3B and wanting to be there, but I mean, what else was he going to say?

Peña may go right back to chasing sliders down and away and we’ll be hosed.

All things considered, I’m more optimistic about the team starting this year than I was last year.

I hope you’re right.

But I just don’t see it. Our problem last year was scoring runs, and we’ve done absolutely nothing to improve that, other than assume Yordan stays healthy and also that Pena and Meyers repeat their career seasons from last year. The bench has been gutted. The one guy that has plate discipline, they’re trying to trade. Just not sure how we contend with a below average offense.

Yainer Diaz sprained his left foot while playing winter ball in December

Probably did it swinging at a pitch 3 feet outside.

I actually swore off ADH a couple of years ago when they mandated a 25% gratuity

I had read about that happening in other locations but they didn’t do that in Katy. That would have pissed me off as well.

less charm

I will miss the Alamo pre-show features. Was worth getting there early for that.
…including the one in Katy that my family and I frequent.

Anyone familiar with this chain and how it compares to Alamo? We really enjoyed Alamo and are disappointed to see it go. Thought the food was a lot better than the other dine in type theaters we’d been to. Plus, they ran a lot of classics and special themed series like their time capsule, movie parties etc.

What in the world is the reason for the 2 week break

NFL

For the next two years their wild card weekend falls on the same timeframe as the CFP champ game, meaning an NFL game on that Monday night. So the champ game got bumped to the following week, meaning pick your poison on whether the break falls between quarters/semis or semis/finals.
You boys need to talk me off the ledge. I haven’t been this pessimistic about a season since the tank years.

The efforts to improve this team are a net zero at best. Obviously a healthy Alvarez is a positive, but they’re done nothing else to improve the hitting and they’ve decimated the bench by letting Dubon, Caratini and Urias go. They have nowhere to put Esock. Altuve is still good but is declining. The outfield bats have no power. None of the young guys are real needle movers IMO. Couple of decent pitching pickups.

I had heard we were in play for Donovan which I thought would have been a great acquisition. He could have played 2B at home with Altuve hiding in LF, then flip flopped on the road. Great plate discipline which is desperately needed. Alas, not only do we not get him but instead our chief division rival does.

They replaced our shitty hitting coaches with a guy whose team last year only scored 16 more total runs than the Astros.

Sleepy Joe is still the manager.

And they promoted from within to replace the head trainer of the worst medical staff in the history of ever.

Spoke out against vax mandates which I’m sure immediately disqualified him.

Next years title game is January 25th

We can thank the NFL. Next year’s Super Bowl is on Feb 14. Meaning conference champ games are on Jan 31, div playoffs Jan 23-24 and Wild card games Jan 16-17-18. CFP title game should be Jan 18, but it won’t be because there will be an NFL wild card game going on that night.

His plate discipline doesn’t get enough credit

Especially in a lineup essentially devoid of plate discipline.

Stroud playing better now

Not really

Threw another ball that should have been picked. Made a bad throw on what should’ve been a first down that could’ve led to a TD.

His most effective play has been a PI on NE
New England with 6 first downs.

never understood the continued outrage. country artists used to make statements all the time. johnny cash had a whole album about native americans and was against vietnam.

The difference is, at least from what I am aware of, Cash voiced opposition to policies, events, etc without publicly personally bashing the President.

She made it personal. She could have voiced opposition to the war and left it at that. But she had to act like a juvenile and throw the “ashamed” bullshite in there.

Producers and labels pick who they want to be stars, package them up into an image and then force them down our throat and tell us we like them.

Hate to break it to you but it's been done that way since forever.

This is the shite I don’t get. I understand why we don’t give Kyle Tucker 240MM but we can’t fricking afford Victor Caratini??!!
quote:

It was because they were arbitrarily lengthening the agreement to lower the AAV

How is it arbitrary if the player agrees to it? Doesn’t the CBA say there is no limit to how long it can be deferred?

I thought lowering the AAV was the whole point?
