Is it cheating to wave you hand for a fair catch below you shoulders and then run for a touchdown. Remember that one?

Which one was that?

I'll be disappointed and embarrassed if we resort to fake cramps to win the game. I think it is both cowardly and crafty, and either way, it's bad sportsmanship. Whether other teams have done it successfully to us does not change that.

Its not cheating but it sure is hell would be embarrassing to be rooting for a team faking injuries. Leave that stuff to soccer and the NBA (flopping). Don't bring it into football.

This an age old question in sports and any sort of competive event. The British thought our tactics in the Revolution were bush-league, chicken shite tactics. We thought the same of Charlie in Nam.

Pitchers throwing at batters, goons in hockey trying to take out the best players, the fumbleroosky, all examples. Is it innovation or just cheap?

IMHO it's a very fine line. Faking injuries is pretty chicken shite but I'm not opposed to jumping off sides or delaying the game if needed.

I'm not opposed to say a CB truly interfering when he know's he's beat.

Yeah, but that shite's against the rules. All Oregon has done is to up the pace of the game..... Not cheating at all in my book.

I think if LSU has the slightest twinge of pain they should wait for a trainer.

ETA: and that going for 2 crap is highschool.

once again that was Matt Flynn

Flynn may have done something in what was it, the Alabama game? But what the other poster is referring to was definitely Hester after scoring the TD against Florida.

So speeding up the tempo isn't cheating, but slowing it down is?

I asked Auburn fans the same question pregame, and they were almost unanimous in calling it cowardly, which I found interesting.

This is very interesting. Last year their entire defense laid down, in an attempt to prevent the LSU O from getting a TD, as time was expiring before half. Very dirty IMO, but it could have worked.

Yup, good call. I shouldn't have said "cheating" in the title, I should have said "cheap" or "bush league" or whatever.

I don't remember what the two teams were where the fake fair catch was called. Was a couple of years ago, maybe boston college or something... east coast teams anyway. The guy caught the ball waited a few seconds and then took off for a touchdown.

Wow, I followed that link and found another video from the same game. This couldn't have been a cheap shot by the "classy" Oregon Ducks, could it?

Yeah, that was pretty bad, no excuses. I don't think we were known as a team that took cheap shots, but your point is well taken.

you prefer your board to not have opposing fans? I appreciate it when they come to ours, assuming they have some sort of insight to add. I don't think you represent the majority of folks here, but if you do, I'll bounce.

According to the rule book, yes, that is correct.

Here is a different spin on it.

is it low brow when a boxer takes the full 8 count before continuing to fight?

Those examples are not about Oregon but more about faking injuries and countering Oregon's style.

As a boxer, I'm happy to weigh in. No, it's not. Not against the rules, and not looked down upon by fellow boxers.

Stick around, good to have different perspective, especially from another area of the country.
