Rodon has had the tat for a while but I don’t remember if it was prior to last season or this one.

Hopefully our late goal this time will snatch a win for us instead of giving it to them.
I’m a little late to the party :gmt:
That would really suck, they’ve both been solid lately. At least Longstaff is back but no Bijol probably means some shuffling at the back.

My cable and internet service is down and they keep pushing the restoration time back three hours at a time. If I have to watch this game on my phone like I’m at work I’m going to be pissed. I’ve been looking forward to this one all week.
Men’s basketball turns a profit through allocated revenue. It would be fairly close to break even if it never sold a single ticket, so it’s not the gotcha you think it is.

With that said, it shows how much revenue LSU is leaving on the table by allowing the basketball program to be non competitive.
Something is happening?

ETA: The wording is weird with Chelsea “interrupting” the loan. He’s at Chelsea on loan from Brighton and not playing, so it’s likely Brighton or the player “interrupting” it looking for more time.

People have no idea of the rules but will bash officials and say the game was rigged.
Some people itt have even managed to botch the rules of a completely different sport.
This should work, follow the NCAA financial report link.

LINK

ETA: The only basketball vs baseball point I’ll make is compare the total non NCAA/SEC distributions and non media rights distribution revenue streams between the two and it shows baseball probably doubles, or nearly doubles, basketball. Let me know if you see the same.

That doesn’t mean I think baseball deserves more but it just underscores how much LSU is missing the boat with basketball.
FYI there are more detailed reports on lsusports.net. In the most recent FY24 report basketball received 4.3MM for media rights, and no other sport besides football received an allocation in that line item.

Its NCAA distribution (driven by the tournament) was 2.8MM.

Those two items, which would be there if they never won a single game or sold a single ticket, made up 7.1MM of its 11.8MM in revenue. Its opex was 10.8MM.

This isn’t a basketball vs baseball post or argument, but the “LSU basketball is a money maker” line is a bit disingenuous given the facts noted above. Basketball could be doing much better financially given that its guaranteed income is enough to cover the majority of its expenses.

ETA: If LSU were serious about basketball it could probably spend more, make more, and still be at least as profitable as it is now…but have a better product to show for it.

It’s about TV money from my understanding. Men’s basketball is greater than college baseball as far as that.

I get that, but 28k LSU fans showed up in Omaha for baseball last year. How many were in the PMAC for MBB tonight?

The post you replied to is making your point. The majority of basketball’s revenue, and the only reason it’s able to show a profit, are due to sources that would exist even if I was the coach and our players were 12 slapdicks from the rant.

Basketball sucks again this year & will still make more money than baseball…
It only makes more money due to its allocation of SEC media rights, which baseball doesn’t receive, and it’s NCAA tournament distribution, which is much larger than the baseball tournament distribution. Baseball is much higher in “generated” revenue such as ticket sales, donations, parking, concessions, etc.

It does underscore how much LSU is missing the boat with basketball though. It generates very little except what it receives simply by existing.
Jack is apparently off to Fiorentina on loan with an option to buy. The buy part will never happen of course.
Yeah I woke up in time to see some subs and JJ’s goal. Looks like a lot guys got a rest today.

Weird you weren't around literally any of the 12 wins,
That’s false.

S is more of a LSU hoops fan than you’ll ever be.
Their coach seems to win an awful lot so even though they wouldn’t be undefeated it’s a pretty safe assumption he would figure it out.

I knew it was a small sample but I had noted him as one to watch in the next year or two. Who knows what direction they go with the coaching change.

Lester do you have a rating on his backup, Ficklin?

With next year being a reset/rebuild anyway I would almost rather have him. True freshman who looked explosive with more upside to me.

This will be the shite show every single year in college ball until someone grows a pair and fixes it.
There’s nothing to fix. The people who initiated the “change” like what’s going on and are perfectly fine with everything.
I guess all the other players he previously had from the portal were drafted by his GM without his input.
