My dad went to LSU with Pete. I went to LSU with Chris. When my dad first saw Chris play, he said "WOW!" That's the first time since Pete he had been awed by any basketball player. That included the NBA...obviously age had much to do with it. I know that I was in utter shock by what Chris could do at 18, so I could only imagine what Pete looked like at 18. I think as Freshman go, those two are 1 and 2 on the list, with Pete #1 and Chris #2, and I'm talking all of college basketball. I went to LSU with Shaq as well, but he wasn't anywhere close to being #2 on the list. When he was 18, he was all defense. Stanley Roberts was considered the offensive center on the team. As for the top list at LSU, Shaq would be my #3.

have a friend (Texas fan, if that matters) who claims that Chris Jackson is the best college basketball player ever. I say that he isn't even the best in LSU history, I'd take Pistol Pete or Shaq over Jackson. Thoughts?

I've seen them all play including the great Bob Petit and "Pistol Pete" is by far the best to ever wear the LSU uniform.

Nobody else finds this kind of ironic that Chris Jackson transcends racial prejudice?

It clearly helped Chris to have Shaq on the team. Pete had no one.

This is nothing new. It's quite normal actually.

Although personally, I always found it hard to understand how you could root for someone because they play sports for your team on one hand yet hate them, their parents, children, etc at the same time.

Chris played with Shaq only one year, his sophmore year.

Chris's freshman year was the bomb. Dale told him he had the green light when he crossed mid-court. I still remember the Florida game on ESPN when the nation was introduced to Jackson....went off for 50+ making everything he shot it seemed.

Fred's is the bar that had the drink price chart based on how many points Jackson had scored that night.

Pistol = 44.2 pts per game average (no 3-pointers back then). It's done.
