re: "Christmas is more important than your football game!"

I just have a hard time believing that people really think that watching a football game, even if it is the seccg, is more important than spending time with your family.
Just stop. This family obsession is getting ridiculous. "Spending time with your family" does not trump everything in the world. People are using this excuse to get out of everything - work, church, volunteering, everything.
Here's the thing: It's the championship game. It is not Western Kentucky or something. If the guy wants to watch the game, that doesn't make him a bad family man. It makes him who he is. If he didn't care about LSU football, he would be someone else.
His kids need to stay home and watch the game with him. They need to see their Dad care about something besides them consuming more activities that are all about them. He needs to introduce them to his world and they need to treasure these moments with their Dad, cheering on LSU in the SEC Championship.
Some of my best memories are with my Dad and Granddad cheering for the Saints and LSU.
Go do the Christmas thing tomorrow. Or, the next day. Or the next. Or, next weekend. Or tonight. Or a million other times between now and 3 weeks from now.
Today, watch the game with your kids and feel good about it.
His wife needs to grow up.

Has to be one of these two.
Has the OP come back to take his abuse, or has his wife suspended his TD privileges to keep him from getting all these uppity ideas?

Well, I'm a religious man, and Christmas is definatly not more improtant than football...But, it's not Christmas yet, and like Les said, "take the games one game at a time"...Let's not worry about Christmas until Christmas gets here and lets worry about giving the bulldogs something to remember this Christmas for...and dude, not a chance in the devils playground could you pull me away from the tv today unless the rapture came...

It's December the 3rd.
Not the 24th or even 25th.
Your wife has you on call for the rest of this month after today.
Listen up kids: if there are any young men out there reading this. This Is what happens when the man does not lay the ground rules for the marriage early on through the dating process.
And you are a sad sack of sh*t.

Dude, you had all day to do this ! Do you think she picked 3 to do this by chance ? LOL, tell her no. she will be mad but she will get over it. Kids aren't going to suffer if they don't see that today !

Okay. That makes a bit more sense. What did you do this morning or what will you be doing tonight. We've got Christmas stuff too (wife and kids), but I've been planning this for a week.
I told her, 3-6pm is the SEC Championship Game. I'm available for whatever you need me to do before and after.
You've got tomorrow, too.
By the way, where do you live? Everyone in the Southeast is watching the SEC Championship Game.

Seriously, I love Christmas and everything, but the fact that it lasts FOUR stinking weeks and you can't do anything except family stuff for FOUR straight weeks or you're a bad person is ridiculous.
Watch the game. Do Christmas stuff later. You have another 3 weeks.
And, I get that she has to work next weekend, but that means that she isn't working during the week too.
Compromise.

Do I have to throw out my LSU football fan credentials?

If you want. But listen, I don't like to stick my head into people's homes and lives. But come on, man. Three or four hours for a game we're lucky to play in a few times per decade?
Not cool. Your dynamic with your wife is none of my business, so just consider this all a good ribbing. In truth, I've been a pretty shitty boyfriend to 60% of my girlfriends, but I think that's because I wanted to avoid becoming as whipped as my dad and older brother are.

No shite. It's not like I ask my wife to go sit in the stand or on the lake with me. There should be a point where your spouse Does shite you like though. I'll go see shitty movies that I don't want to see just because she does. She can sit down and watch the game with me. or not. Doesn't matter.
