I dont care what Crowton said. He is worlds better than Jimbo and I therefore love that man.

If Russell is in Canton, he'll be buying a ticket to get in.

Exactly.

We dont need no RBs that can break 80 yard runs against SEC teams.

F that.

Give me the guy who does it slowly, 1 4 yard carry at a time.

Les has already showed that he will not tolerate long gains by RBs. That is not LSU football.

Right?

You can't gain 7 yards from inside the 2.

Hester- 239 touches, 13 TDs, 1 TD every 18.4 touches
KW- 79 touches, 7 TDs, 1 TD every 11.29 touches
Scott- 57 touches, 7 TDs, 1 TD every 8.14 touches

Now please explain to me how our goalline RB has MUCH worse TDs per touches than the 2 guys who weren't getting the ball inside the 10???

I guess this goes back to the big play argument. We dont want a guy to punch it in from 20 or 30 yards out when we can work it down and punch it in from the 2 yard line, I guess.

Why can't people comprehend Crowton's comments? And why do so many people think they know more about the offense than the coaches who set school records and won the MNC?

Hester had several goal line carries, he also have several fourth down carries. The biggest thing that brought down his average is he had a lot of 3rd and short carries. On 3rd (or 4th) and short, do you take the guy who is more likely to pickup the first, or the one who is more likely to break a long run? If you answered the latter, you should not be coaching Peewee football. On 3rd or 4th and short, you make the safest run (typically a small gain) that will give you a first down.

Think of the extremes, if your entire offense was handing off to a RB who picked up four yards every carry, the offense would score every drive. On the other hand, if the RB picked up 80 yards every tenth carry his average would be double the four yard guy but the offense would only score every third drive. The rantards would be screaming for the 8 yard/carry guy while the coaches would be setting school records and winning the MNC with the four yard guy.

No it's called strategy, for which Crowton gets so much recognition. He runs a series of plays with the most dependable back on the team until the defense is anticipating, then he inserts TH, KW, or Murphy to try to make a big play. Apparently KW is very good at this, when he runs the play as designed. Unfortunately he doesn't consistently follow instructions, according to reports in the media.
An example is when TH ran the wrong way in the National Championship game. We expect inexperienced players like TH and the young receivers to run the wrong routes or line up wrong occasionally but not from an every down back.
