It's important to remember that Cox and Comcast/Charter are fierce competitors with each other. So Cox wants the games to be exclusively on Cox.
Charter subscribers shouldn't feel too put out, because Charter seems to have won the battle for the football games.
LINK
For one thing, you'll get ESPN360.com, which Cox refused to provide.

Here's info on both CST and CSS and subscribers:
About Cox Sports Television
The New Orleans based sports network launched on October 28, 2002 in front of 450,000 Louisiana viewers. CST has grown over 400% to nearly 2 million in the seven years since launch, making it one of the fastest growing regional sports networks in the south. CST is currently carried on cable systems in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi and Virginia and is available to Dish Network subscribers (Channel 421) in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans markets. CST is owned and operated by Cox Communications Louisiana, LLC. Initially targeted to be a Louisiana sports network, CST has secured collegiate, professional and high school events that have expanded the networks reach throughout the south. For more information about CST, please visit the CST website at www.coxsportstv.com.
About CSS Network
CSS is a 24-hour sports channel serving approximately 5.9 million cable subscribers across twelve southeastern states. Launched in 1999, the network is a partnership between Comcast Corporation and Charter Communications. CSS carries a full slate of college sports programming including over 40 live football games, 110 college football replay games, more than 200 men's and women's live college basketball games and over 50 live baseball games, as well as a comprehensive mix of sports news and in-depth sports analysis geared toward fans in the Southeast.

unfortunately, Cox no longer carries its own sports station here in Gainesville. they moved TBS to its former slot so that I could get a second NBC.

Will Dish subscribers in north Louisiana get it?
Posted on 5/26/09 at 10:51 pm to GOP_Tiger
I for one am happy that CST got it... now I just wish that we would get Fox Sports SOUTH and not Fox Sport Everything Texas.

Doesn't Jumbo sell it to local affiliates that want to carry their games?
Posted on 5/26/09 at 11:00 pm to DEANintheYAY
Yes! Please! And can that same person do the same with every football game because I'm moving out of the States!

We live on the northshore and switched to Dish from DirecTV just so we could get CST. We have been very happy with Dish and love that we now get to see the Tigers play when we can't be there in person. You also get every LSU football game replayed on Sunday night during football season as well as numerous Hornets games.
From what I understand DirecTV had the same opportunity to strike a deal with Cox and carry CST just like Dish did, but did not want to fork over the right amount of money. Their loss, Dish's gain.....

CST has the rights now, but they may very well have to move some of the games to other channels, as they are scheduled to carry the Zephyrs games this weekend... and since the sub-regional broadcast is a Jumbo Sports production, CST/Jumbo may have something planned, on what to do about programming conflicts... notices about CST and Jumbo winning the rights are up on the CST page and a story has been written, but there are no changes to the CST Program Schedule(s) for this sub-regional weekend Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon yet... as of 4:30 AM CDT Wednesday morning... so who knows?... also, you would think a dialog has been opened about broadcasts for the super-regional next week...

Man, I swear ever since Skip Bertman left as Athletics Director and Joe Alleva took over, televised games have gone to shite...
Posted on 5/27/09 at 6:44 am to JohnLSU
But at the same time Cox does not do anything to help carry the LSU games that mean a lot in the SEC and Nationally. They get the rights to the games then they Oh! we have another Hornets or Zephers or what ever game at that time so can't show it we'll just tape-delay the game. That is the attitude at CST they do nothing for the local sports fan.

ESPN will show all of the super regionals on their family of networks, unless something has changed from last year...

The Friday night Zephyrs game starts at 7pm, so that won't affect LSU's game. My guess is they will air game #2 (Baylor/Minn)later on tape delay, maybe 11pm? On Saturday, the Friday Zephyrs game is scheduled to reair at 2pm. I'm sure that will be cut out to allow for the B.R. regional game. Then there is a 2004 Tulane game at 6pm, and we know that's going to be scratched. Sunday has a reruns of Louisiana high school softball and Div. II baseball and softball. That's going to go as well, if it conflicts.
