re: Dan Borne' retiring

Indeed—Dan was the man!
He replaced another legend, as my high school buddy and I used to imitate Sid Crocker, or Big Sid, as we called him.
But Dan had a great voice as well, just not as much fun to imitate. And his classic line, “Chance of rain in Tiger Stadium—Never!” should be preserved and maybe used before each game going forward. Dan was great and will be difficult to replace.

I will miss the voice from above.

Dan Borne will certainly be missed.
Dan will certainly be missed. But, I remember when his predecessor, Sid Crocker, retired. The next announcer will have big shoes to fill and a great tradition to continue. But, we’ll be good.
Anybody on here remember “Big Red” in the north end zone…
GEAUX GET ‘UM TIGERS
GEAUX GET ‘UM TIGERS
He was our version of the Vandy whistler, but damn, I miss him.

Attention please... do not rush the field after the game ends... thank you...
Thanks for that. I’ve tried to forget that game. Quietest I have ever heard it leaving DV that night.

Jimmy Ott would cause many fans to self mutilate themselves in the middle of the stadium. His stutter should be declared a national disaster

People forget it was hard to get used to Borne' at first... but he certainly grew into it quickly. Legend!

It’s still a travesty they re-recorded his poem with someone else. Preferred his version.

That "SCOOOOOORES" thing is stupid
Wrong. It’s the coolest PA announcer thing I’ve ever heard and became synonymous with most of the greatest plays in the history of tiger stadium.

Jimmy Ott, certified legend

Hate to see him go…just won’t sound the same. But 38 years and 79 years old, he’s earned the right to just enjoy the games.
Thanks or the great voice!

My favorite required read by Sid and Dan (for most of his years)
"Possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages in Tiger Stadium is STRICTLY PROHIBITED".
This was always followed by a raising of the cocktail containing Coke cups and a very vocal toast and laugh.

Thanks Dan, you were great. But Sid Crocker was da Man.

Does he have any sons with a similar voice that would be up to the task?

Any replacement must be obligated by contract to say "PEE-NULL-IZED"
