I believe his wife has Parkinson's disease. My grandpaw had that and he had the same problem, where he was slurring his speach. He also had some strokes, so that didn't help either. It was sad to see him go downhill. In his older days, he didn't get around much like he used to, but he was always overweight since I was born.
Not to change the subject, but I have had to see both my Mom and Grandpaw die from cancer and then Parkinson's disease. I just hope my dad and grandmaw die in their sleep. It takes a lot out of the people taking care of them and then dealing with the stress after their passing. I just pray and that seems to help.
Dandy Don, my prayers are with you and your family.

May God bless DD and his family. My prayers are with them as they deal with this tough time. I love reading his site and share his passion for LSU. He is the reason that I found this site. He truly is amazing for the time and effort he donates to LSU fans through his website. To you and your family DD,

My thoughts and prayers go out to Don and his loving wife. My parents just celebrated 54yrs and they still hold hands everywhere they go. Such a rare treasure these days. Mr. and Mrs. Long seem to have that kind of relationship. Come what may- thick or thin, we do it together.I apprieciate his efforts every mourning around 7:30am. Today, more than ever, a prayer goes out to the Long family.

Well, good for you, Chicken.
Personally, I find his site is much more humane and frankly reliable than this one --in spite of al the lowbrow coments about it from rantards.

I can remember being a kid and Mr. Don umpiring my little league games. Being i was a catcher, we got to talk throughout the games and remember him being quite a nice man. My prayers go out to him and his family.
Happy Easter to everyone!

Hey man..I lost both my grandparents (mom's side) within the last few years, and it is a difficult thing to go through. I will be sure to keep your maw maw in my prayers tonight.
Secondly, your paw paw is a wonderful asset to the Tiger community. I read his page daily, and I have read his thanksgiving day messages for at least the last 6 years...Those that critizize him only do so because they are envious that no one cares about their opinion, while we all look to your paw paw for his each and everyday...Don't let those envious haters ever get to you......Stay strong, man.....

Our prayers are with Don and his wife, Joy. Joy has been unable to dress or bath or take care of herself for a while. It is another step backwards for her to be unable to speak. She is what would be called a Missionary. Or..an Angel of God. Don is a very special man and I hope I get to Heaven to see him get his stars in his crown. Joy will be there, too. There will be a great Welcoming Committee waiting on Joy when it is time. God Bless them both and their son and grandson.

To a great man, a great fan, and his wonderful family, from a BR native, LSU alumni, and even though from afar, a loyal Tigah fan - THANK YOU.
May Mrs. Dandy continue to brighten your days with her smile. Yours is such a great story of love and respect. We all are learning a thing or two here about dignity. God bless DD and his family.
