Yes basically. This is LSU we are living in the NOW. No time for excuses. If lane coached us to an arse whipping by Troy I’d be saying the same thing about him. You people defend O like he’s your father or something. It’s strange

Big difference when you were Sabans right hand man for how many years?

I get that, but Aranda has a lot of solid experience under a variety of head coaches. He knows, from multiple programs, what works and what doesn't.

The defense would always be filthy and you know he's brilliant and has a psychotic work ethic. And you know he has unanimous respect and admiration from his peers and players.

The formula is there and he will not fail as a head coach.

Kiffin, simply because of experience.

O had experience too. Doesn't make it a good hire.

I am not a fan of Kiffin as a head coach here at all. If these are the 2 choices I'd take Aranda every time.

Still waiting for you people who want young up and coming coaches to at least drop TWO NAMES.

You think these coaches grow on trees?? It’s almost impossible to hit on a young coach that can get it done at LSU.

I really don’t think Aranda needs Saban to tutor him on how to run a defense. Somebody is gonna give Aranda a shot and if it’s not us heads will explode on this board.

first off no one crucifies O, there are simply just people who don't buy into him for obvious reasons. O fans need to quit being so dramatic about it

Secondly, for all of Lane's faults and failures, he's still way more qualified than O to be the HC here. For starters, he's proved multiple times capable of coordinating a unit on the side of the ball he coaches. That's something no one ever thought O was capable or gave a chance to do so throughout his very long career. Why do you think that is?

Lane Kiffin HC record 46-24

He took a team that went 9-27 the last 3 years and went 11-3.

He’s also won multiple NCs as a OC

O’s current record is 31-33.

And Kiffin is still you get than a O was when he first got the Ole Miss Job.

Kiffin's a Ferrari. Sexy, promises of performance, seemingly just a little "more" when compared to others. But then invariably, when you get that Ferrari in your name, you find it doesn't run right, is an absolute bitch to maintain, you're lucky to get a sunday drive in, and forget about functional in a reliable manner. There was hope that Saban would have whipped him into shape, the way Kiffin shits on him in media almost daily, that doesn't seem to be the case

I would agree a few years ago. But after being Fired at USC and coaching under saban, I think it matured him in coaching. Is he still a prick with the media and other programs, yes. But so was the ole ball coach. Just feel he's turned the corner and the next P5 that hires him will do great!

I’ll give O credit here. His overall record will be above .500 when it’s all said and done. He’s better than he was before for sure but the final verdict has yet to be determined. This season will tell you everything you need to know about O.

Brohm has made Purdue a winner using Petrino's offense and will be at a major program in a few years.

Campbell is the guy Ohio State fans are asking for if Urban is canned. But I guess he's not good enough for LSU.

Is he?

He is heading up a better program that was in a better place when he took over, that's for sure.

I think our next coach will be Mike Norvell or Lane Kiffin. Maybe Fleck if he does well this year and next.

That said ... IMO we should learn from our experience with Canada. After we parted ways, most of us were kicking ourselves saying "of course it was a bad breakup, all we had to do is look at his history. Why were we surprised?"

Lane Kiffin has had 3 bad breakups in his HC history (Oakland, Tenn, USC). While it's possible he has matured, I just think we'd be setting ourselves up for history to repeat itself down the road.

While I think Kiffin is more likely than Aranda given the circumstances, my choice between the two would be Aranda even with the huge unknowns with Aranda. But it would take a very specific set of circumstances for Aranda to get the job, because it is very unlikely our next hire will come from within. I absolutely don't want to lose Aranda, but his best path to HC at LSU would probably be to take another mid-level HC job first.

I'll also throw this out there... there's no question in my mind that the LSU fan base is divided right now. Divided and broken. Our next HC needs to find a way to bring everyone back together (admin, fans, team, media), and I'm not sure Kiffin - one of the most polarizing figures in CFB - is necessarily the right person to do that.

So because Ohio State fans are wanting this guy, we should too?

Hell, half their fan base is begging to keep Meyer and are justifying everything shady he’s done.

I think he was given a better team.

And better coaches around him.

For instance his DC is Aranda and not Ed Orgeron.

Big upgrade.

I think he’s better but that doesn’t mean he is the guy for LSU to win it all.

Some coaches can inherit a program and win and some coaches are more of the build it from the ground up type.

Is Orgeron neither?
