You really think the team is up in arms over this?

There are some real pussies in this thread. (Not you, Pikes Peak)

Lastly OTs can be playmakers too
Hell, OT is one of the most valuable positions in the NFL.

So what. He’s the coach, he runs the program. He owes you nothing. Your opinion means and should mean nothing to him.
If you don’t like it, you are free to not support the program.

Because you can’t have a preseason top 5 ranked team with national championship aspirations if an offensive linemen is your best player
What a hilariously bad take.

No it didn’t. Beginning with PP7, #7 was for the player that was believed to be the biggest playmaker on the team.
What the hell are you talking about?
PP7 didn’t get #7 because he was the best player on the team. PP7 was the best player on the team who just happened to wear #7. He wore #7 in high school and kept it at LSU.
Then Tyrann Mathieu took the number because one had a pretty special relationship with Patrick Peterson. Again - not because of some “best player on the team” tradition.
Then Fournette wore #7 a couple of years later and that’s when the whole “tradition” thing started. Even that is arguable because Fournette has also said he wanted #7 to represent the 7th ward. But at the earliest, it turned into a “tradition” with Fournette in 2014.

Well the 4th of July is the anniversary of a specific event on a specific date so this example is stupid

Do you know what a tradition is? Because this one has only been around for about 10 years and has already changed multiple times.
I wouldn’t even call it a real “tradition”. For the exact reasons you mentioned.

Your best OL dude is probably making a lot of plays for you.
Honestly, I thought it was a best leader tradition.

Best thing I’ve read in this thread. The guy has been whining for several pages about who’s wearing a number.

Don't be getting down on my big uglies. Without them, there are no plays to be made. The trenches is where football is won and lost.
All hail the linemen!

Rantards who claim to be football fans obviously don’t understand that linemen can actually be star football players. They identify themselves in this thread.

Do you know what the infinitive “to begin” means?? Let me help you, it means that Patrick Peterson was the first person in this #7 era to don the jersey. Obviously the current significance of the number was not yet established as PP7’s very actions on and off the field laid the groundwork for said tradition. Some might say, he BEGAN, the tradition.

Wrong.
But in any case, why are you so bothered by this? Good Lord. You’ve been crying about this for almost six hours.
Don’t watch the games then. Problem solved.

Finally a decent question.
It can obviously get more in depth, but quite simply, making a play must involve the presence of the actual football. So runs, passes, catches, tackles, interceptions, swatted balls, sacks, etc. interior linemen are rarely involved in any of these situations; therefore, I would rarely consider them to be “playmakers”. That’s not to discount their importance to the overall success of the team. But there are 11 positions on each side of the ball, and everybody needs to do their job in order to succeed. And an interior linemen’s job rarely involves the actual football itself

I’m saying you’re wrong. And I’ve already explained it to you in this thread. Sorry you missed that. Evidently you were too busy crying over a number to see it.

Oh…. Internet tough guy detected. Over a number.
