They held every play and non were called. What do you expect? Give them axes to chop off their hands when they hold?

When you have the nation's best secondary you are comfortable with them winning those battles. So you don't pit the pressure more than it is necessary. I don't feel like it hurt us, and would say the scoreboard agrees... But if you need something to gripe about then go for it.

It's like these guys don't have eyes.
We rushed four they had 5/6 (QB) at all times.
If we had blitzed those passes would have been td's.
We played it right, keep it in front and create turnovers and get the damn victory.
Don't be freakin Oregon stat-monkeys.
Get the big win, and go play Kentucky.

I figured we wouldn't get to Smith much tonight on account of the passes they throw. Funny though how many people on this board said our defense would destroy Smith and rack up a ton of sacks. Indeed.

It didn't seem as though the game plan was to pressure him. Apparently the coaches watched film and determined that pressuring him or trying to do so was not a good idea. I saw several times that linemen who had opportunity to rush, held up and got their hands in the air, as if they were coached to do this in response to the quick passing game. I saw a lot of strategy tonight, just like when 6 from WVU got burned multiple times, while sitting on the slant rout... their scouting caused them to game plan this philosophy. Awesome game to watch.

Agreed,.a little disapointed in the defensive line tonight,..but I think I saw some holding going on too...SEC OFFICIALS ON FIELD..need I say more..if they call he Bama game like that, expect to see the same kind of play against our defense...all in all...still a great win...PROUD TO BE A TIGER...

+1, definately not the best tackling performance this year , plus give west virginia credit their players made a lot of plays on offense

For those making excuses with the quick 3 step drop and throw quickly, bullshite. On many playes Gino could have roasted a pig and still no pressure. Way to conservative. Linebackers should have sat the game as they were just stuck in the mud. We could have blitzed in the 3rd Qtr becuase letting all the dink and dunks just tired our asses out. The OL for WV did hold some times but they were awesome holding the DL in check.

We did not change anything in the second half like last year at Auburn where Cam & Co ran us over.

I love the win but we need to make adjustments when teams are arse raping our defense. We did drop a few INT but they still gained 566 yards, and that is inexcusable.

I am merely pointing out things that needs work. Also missed tackles due to playing way off the WR. Morris got burned repeatedly.

Great win though

Great win

would like to have ssen more of this. a significant number of their yards came from the corners playing back. our corners can more than hang with their wr. would have liked to have seen more pressure throughout the game. but, the plan was clearly to keep everything in front of you, which they did pretty much perfectly. hard to argue with the result.

They had 7 men blocking a fair amount in the 2nd half. The problem was that our safeties were in centerfield and our DB's backed off. So, even though we had 7 in coverage against 3 receivers they were stil open.

The real question is why receivers were so wide open...

What is the true measure of the defense?
To allow fewer points than the offense scored.
Help put the offense in positions to score.

I think these two were accomplished with great ease today.

The nitty gritties need to be looked into - the missed tackles, assignments or gap discipline, over pursuing, taunting etc...

Those are secondary to the first two points.

In a way it is a good thing that we are in an enviable position to be whining and complaining about a 47 score with a 26 point win in an away game against a ranked non-conf team
