re: Defensive Possessions per Game vs. Yards/Game

quote:I, personally love it (but I know what you were getting at). That yds/possession is pretty good. We're just giving opponents more opportunities, hence more total yards is what it says to me.
Lot of people here won't like that stat.
quote:yep. take that out then those stats and points given up change quite a bit, for the good.
ETA: The tackling needs to improve regardless, but many are showing their arse with the constant criticism of the D.
ETA: is this what a 'complementary defense' looks like (assuming tackling/blown assignments gets cleaned up)? If so... no complaints here.

The answer is right in front of your eyes. You asked me to remove the Vandy game because they put up a bunch of irrelevant yards and points. I did so and it only hurt your argument so you went back to "all games count"
i.e. backtracking
But what did I say right before that? I would think someone OK with removing 25% of the data would be able top separate those parts of the posts and determine which one happened first.
Oh, that's right. you only pick and choose when to ignore stuff if it helps your argument

That is great that you can regurgitate those facts that CEO stated. Do you not see missed assignments that lead to those missed tackles? I never said missed tackles wasn't an issue, it is. However, piss poor fundamentals all around and mental breakdowns are what is causing our issues. If our guys catch 1/3 of the pass deflections and that turns into turnovers, how different are he stats?
Counting on guys to not miss tackles is much more realistic than expecting a huge jump in turnovers, but you're one of the ones that;'s going to melt about the defense regardless.
Nah home boy, you got it wrong. I never said i expected a jump in turnovers. I asked an question, that is all.
I believe in the coaching staff, always have unlike most. However I do not believe the coaching staff is above reproach. Coaches coach and players play. One side of the staff has it rolling right now and the other does not. We have a bye week to get this shite figured out. I certainly expect them to play better moving forward. Hell i think Aranda is still hiding things and playing not to lose, secret playbook, lol. Problem is that at some point, you have to do things in games and not just in practice.
open your eyes man. It is ok to enjoy the ride and point out deficiencies. Nobody and no team is perfect. We have to get better as the season goes along or we will not celebrate championships. We are already fighting bad luck with suspensions and injuries. We have to get better where we are struggling, and right now that is on the defensive side of the ball.

Kinda like how you chose to ignore my argument when you realized it had validity?

Yea, the missed tackles couple with sitting a bunch of starters the past two games.

Just so I have you clear, you're claiming that I backtracked from my initial position that all games count to the position of all games count? Because literally the only position I've argued is that all games count.

Is the rest of our schedule closer to UT in strength or Georgia Southern?

Stop giving us stats. The defense has major tackling issues. We see it. The coaches see it. The worst part about it is our supposed leader on defense and top 5 draft pick is the worst one. It needs to get fixed ASAP. This is undeniable.

My bad, didn't know Delpit, Vincent, etc were backups.
I see you have nothing else to add.

Right, because that was obviously who I was referring to.

Yes or no, my first argument to you was that all games count?

I never said it wasn't.
You then asked me to remove the Vandy game. I did, and the argument only grew in my favor. You then were like "ah shite nevermind all games count".

Closer to Vandy maybe. Not GSU.

You've said it about 375 times in your last 10 posts, so I'm gonna go ahead and say yes?

Really? What other teams do we play that pass around 10 times per game?

After re-watching Vandy, I think our issues were more tackling than assignments. This is actually better than previous games where we had issues with both.
I'm hoping the bye week allows us to address our problems. I have full confidence in Aranda. It will help a lot to have some of our players come back.
And maybe not play Kary Vincent in his current role/responsibities anymore. He has consistently been out of position, whiffed on tackles, or just been straight picked on by QBs.

Maybe something along the lines to support your argument as you just agreed with me. Any way you want to slice it we have played piss poor defense.
NSU passed for more yards, more touchdowns, and less interceptions against LSU than against the juggernaut that is Midwestern state.
Sam Ehlinger threw fro 401 yard against us. A big 12 team tore up our defense for crying out loud. We always they don't play defense in the big 12, well i guess we don't either when we play them.
Vandy's leading rusher gashed us for 6.5 yards per carry.
We have not played well on defense. Just admit that. If you cannot, then you are more naive then you let on or bigger pumper than I am
