D White needs to ride that fricking horse right up that locker room’s arse and lay down the law.

We need all these old guard leaders to come back in this week and get in that arse.

I wish they'd let Brandon Taylor in the locker room for about 20 minutes.

Now all of the coddling posters saying no one should call Gilbert soft can shut the hell up.

A respected player from his generation in a nice way called him a pussy.

The program is a shitshow, and that’s on the coaches... but all of the opting out is basically taking your ball and going home bitchmade moves.

He’s all time favorite Captain at LSU he was a legit leader and an underrated player. If he didn’t get hurt I bet he’d still be a starting safety for the chargers.

Dude these guys like Devin White are just telling it how it is. The world is not here to coddle you. Arik needs to hear shite like this. If arik can't take it, then get the hell out

It doesn't matter at this point. Guys like Devin White aren't speaking directly to Arik Gilbert anymore. They're setting an example for this entire team. Everyone in that building is seeing these tweets.

Not sure why everyone completely trusts O with the "my body hurts" line. That seems too obvious to turn fan sentiment against Gilbert and sympathize with O.

D white is correct and Gilbert needs to stop being a pussy.

But this is a bad look for Gilbert and O. If he told him that, you keep it in house! Not sure embarrassing the kid into staying was a smart play and doesn’t help “win” back the locker room

I know you’re being sarcastic, but obviously he didn’t foresee this. But Boat is right, that better be the reason Arik gave O or he’s opened him up to all this unfair criticism, and is definitely out. Even if he thought he was doing him a solid by providing him a little cover by saying it’s not so egregious a move that he wouldn’t welcome him back, not only did it not work, it made it much worse. I know O’s got media commitments, but he can’t say anything right publicly right now.

You think the fans would sympathize with O for any reason?

probably but further alienating the kid isn't going to help keep him. Would you want to return to a team where the head coach made you sound soft and you're basically being called a pussy by fans and alumni?

I agree gilbert sounds tissue paper soft....but I'd still like to keep him around

Pretty much tells me Gilbert is firmly gone. If they're still trying to sway him, it's a bad play to publicly shame him. Think it would have been a better move to have NFLSU guys like White, Jefferson etc to reach out to him privately. Publicly shitting on him pretty squarely assures he's moving on.

Yall know damn well Georgia is playing that game coddling him telling him everything he wants to hear. We'll take care of you Arik, things will be normal next year, mom can come to every home game, we'll use you right.

I’ve been as hard on O as anyone, but it was mind boggling last night to see nearly nobody calling Gilbert out for leaving. I was just trying to find just one non-melty poster who didn’t give Arik excuses but 99.998% were.

Bottom line the repercussions from opting out leaves him in a situation where he will have to transfer. He will never be accepted again by players who fight out the rest of the season or players like White when he comes back because his legacy will be a quitter even if he is the best TE to come through LSU it won't matter.
He will need to find a clean slate because his goose is cooked in BR.

Even if it hurts his feelings the message needs to be sent to the locker room from on high by NFL players that you will get no respect for being a quitter. The coaches can only say it so much before it gets tuned out.
