quote:i agree. i don't think that the Herbstriet report affected what Miles ultimately did. If he thought it was best to go to Michigan for himself and his family he would have gone, but he didn't. Not because of a erroneuous media report.
Miles doesn't seem to be the type of man who allows others to make his decisions for him

Yes Michigan wanted him. Twice.
Why is it so hard for some of you to believe that Les really really wanted and wants to be at LSU?
It it because of the irrational anti-Miles crap found around here?
Truth is, if it had been me after all the ignorant bullshite spewed by the co called fans, I probably have gone to Michigan, giving LSU fans a well deserved the one finger wave when I drove off.

This convinces me that Miles is the Man

Yes / No
Some of the Alumni did
some others did not ... it was a political game inside Michigan.

Coach is a better man than that and LSU is too damn strong of a college football school to walk away from cause of some spoiled/ungrateful fans.imo

you know, if Miles goes to Mich in 2007 then I bet Saban comes back to BR, reason? 1st year at bama and not entrenched, Terri loved it in BR, and we would have welcomed him back with open arms and I dare say his agent would have "pushed" him back to BR...JMHO...having said that, I am glad things have worked out like they have...CLM is an outstanding coach...I have watched youtube stuff on him and he dont stutter and mix words on the practice field nor the locker room...

Michigan wanted Miles, but they weren't man enough to come out and say, "We went after him and failed again."
And since Miles has so much pride in his alma mater he wasn't going to come out and say that Michigan did indeed make an offer.

I doubt Saban would leave Alabama after one year to come back to LSU.
I'm a Les Miles fan, but I think John Chavis has saved his job for him.

The stars really have aligned in keeping him with the Tigers all of these years. After the Ole Miss game two years ago or the Tennessee game last year, the fan base would have gladly seen him go. Now, not so much
Wait till we play a close or even worse...lose a game. They will be out in full force calling for his head. I mean, you have fans right now that are still finding plenty to complain about for crying out loud.

Michigan would have been dumb to NOT want Les as their coach.

I talked to a guy who was in the meeting. They never offered miles the job, apparently mes made some anti loyd Carr statements and pissed off some of the high ups at Michigan. Additionally the ad is a money guy. Why would you hire miles for 4 million a year when you can hire an entire staff for the same amount? It's great PR for people to speculate that miles turned down Michigan but the fact of the matter is they never offered him the job.

He was definitely offered the job after RR was canned, not quite sure about the first time whether or not he ever had a firm offer.

And I bet you really really think that the girl that told your fu ck off back in the 4th grade will come running back to you, and you believe that Nigerian Prince has a bazilion dollars waiting for you. You do don't ya? You really truly do.
