Yep. I remember even as late as the late 80's. shortly after that beepers began to come in vogue.

Also had announcements for drunks who left their lights on in the parking lot.

I'll answer this roll call. Hadn't thought of that in many years, and probably wouldn't have. Thanks for bringing an image of the old1970s Tiger Stadium to mind, and tear a to my eye.
Same here. I remember getting to the stadium a couple of hours before the game to get a good seat in the student section (and sometimes earlier for big games). Anyone remember the pregame model airplane dog fights? And the Baton Rouge Police Canine Corps? I always loved the dog that would start crawling toward his handler when he was supposed to stay still in formation. He always got a big cheer. And the dog in the baby carriage who would leap out and chase down the robber.

I'm good friends with Dan Borne, and he's one that loves banter and practical jokes, and he used to do the lights on and calling Doctors by name to mess with people he knew were at the game. He paged me several times over the years as I was coming off the field from an alumni band performance (Dr. Miles, please call your medical exchange). Then we started with the slide into the no fun era, and he was told to cease playing with the mike.
