Yea I think he'll have a career like Rod Woodson. He'll start out as a dominant CB and then as he gets older and loses a step (it happens to everyone, no knock on PP) he'll move to S and be a stud there. I'd love to see him in a defense like Green Bay and what they do with Charles Woodson moving him all over the place.

I was trying to think of a good example, but was coming up blank. Rod Woodson's career is exactly what I was thinking about. Unlike most corners, when he does lose that step, he'll have the size to slide right over and be a dominant safety.

That said, I was looking on his profile, and it said PP ran a 4.47 40 in high school. Either he just doesn't test well, or he has gotten faster.

Hall of fame NFL cornerback before he even enters his junior year at LSU as a cornerback. Should I expect any less from the rant?

It's possible he's gotten faster. But maybe that was an accurate test-- it's very common for high school kids to have inflated times that make it seem they're faster than they really are.

Step up off my jock, Nancy. No one said he's going to be as good as Rod Woodson, but based on his size, speed, and instincts, I could envision his career taking a similar path. What we are talking about here is a mid-career move to safety which would compliment the player's changing skill set.

Nobody proclaimed him a HOFer.

Not trying to be a nega but anyone know for sure that PP has not lost a step? Thats a lot of weight he has packed on...blah, blah, blah, I know this issue has been overanalyzed but if he has lost some speed and we see him get burned a few times, the rant will have another Moffit meltdown...........ftr-I'm pumped about seeing a big ol' thick CB dominating...but we've seen some guys pack on the lbs and lose some speed (Chad Jones comes to mind) Would hate to see the same happen to PP

This. I hate when you compare someone with a similar playing style or career to someone and they immediatley take this as a statement of equality.

Something tells me we'll have a good idea how fast he is on his first kickoff return.

I'm not really concerned about him losing a "step." The only concern I would have with the weight is more to do with his hips and backpedaling.

Nobody really knows. The only evidence, per se, would be a quote somebody posted on here from PP himself regarding his weight. He said something to the effect that even at his now heavier weight, he feels stronger and faster than ever. If he feels he's more effective, it's definitely a good sign.

If his backpedaling and hips suffer due to the extra weight, that would be covered under the 'losing a step' category

Fair enough. I've just always kind of thought of straight-line speed when that is used.

"No, they want to knock our players and Coaches and then right here before the start of the season talk about them going to the pro's."
______________________________________________________________

Since when is projecting that a beloved Tiger will play in the NFL considered "knocking"?
Distraction? Maybe, but that's still pretty irrational. Seems like a compliment to me. Disregard the Cheerios, it had to have been more along the lines of this...

I am just sick and tired of these knotheads on this board spending all season on why we are not going to be competitive and then they want to come here 2 days before the season starts and say this and this about our players. They had all winter, spring, and summer to talk about this and that about the pro's. No, they want to knock our players and Coaches and then right here before the start of the season talk about them going to the pro's. This is not the pro's this i LSU Football and it is time to get PUMPED about this season not where so and so is going to play at the next level. He still has another season of eligability left and I want him here until he graduates or next year and we have used him to the fullest.
Wow from this I clearly see you are probably 12. Sorry about the Jackass board comment...Jackass!!!
