now LSU is fricking the kid out of a scholarship a month before the season starts

you do realize if they greyshirt, they take away from our 25 in 2011, right?
Of course, and I could not care less. We have already offered guys I would not have for 11, but that's not my call.

it's 100% true

A greyshirt is a scholarship, period.
no it's not
there is no contractual obligation with a greyshirt
there are no BENEFITS (which were promised, mind you) with a greyshirt

for the fall semester, will he have
1. his tuition paid?
2. his room paid?
3. his books paid?
4. a meal plan?
5. full access to the training/coaching staff?
if any of these is "no," then he does not have the same benefits of EVERY scholarship player

You're doing a pretty good job for haveing the crap side of the deal. You're still losing. No points made. "For the fall semester.." Ha! It is to laugh.

i provided teh benefits of the scholarship porter was promised for 2009-2010 that LSU has taken away from him

how is paying your own way to LSU and paying for all of your accommodations without any guarantee of anything in the future a scholarship?

the fall semester is the fricking football season he is to participate in as well as over half of his 1-year scholarship

1. He doesn't have to attend classes.
2. There is the same guarantee there always was. It just starts in January.

He was not going to participate. He still gets 5 to play 4. In fact, doesn't he end up with an semester extra(school) because of it?

to be a greyshirt, he will have to attend classes. name me 1 greyshirt who just skipped school

no accepting a formal offer of a scholarship for 2010-2011 and binding himself to LSU by signing a LOI is a little more guarantee than being promised that he may have a scholarship in 2011-2012

HILARIOUS.
Love calling it a guarantee. How was it a guarantee since the previous guarantee was for August?

but he doesn't get to participate in the 2010-2011 season like he was promised, which was why he signed with LSU

this has no relevance to anything
any qualified person can attend LSU if they pay their own way indefinitely

Sorry, but I can't read that. His free ride is there.

a guarantee/promise that was in writing signed by both fricking parties

You guys are arguing semantics. Sounds like benefits are taken away for this semester and added on to the end. Is this correct?
If so, when you consider it overall, it might be a small loss if you take into consideration the time value of money. ie: a $ today is worth more than a $ will be 4 years from now. Not sure about the value of an LSU education over that period of time.

it's a part of the obligation. "you pay your way to school for the fall. stay around the team. and we will give you a scholarship in the spring." that is how greyshirts work
no coach would ever just cut a kid loose and pray he stays out of trouble and doesn't get fat for an entire semester
that's why i asked you to name me one kid who didn't enroll and just skipped the fall semester
i don't even know if LSU would allow you to just randomly start in the spring

no benefits were added

in terms of money there are too many variables
he may come out ahead in the end when LSU finally gets a real coach in there, esp one who can hire a good OL coach

It doesn't matter. It's not part of any NCAA or LSU or SEC rule.

Of course not. Otherwise this would not be a greyshirt discussion. He can practice for any bowl though.
