what does that have to do with Les Miles clock management?
Nothing at all justy keep posting..
seriously? i don't really give a frick about Saban.
Yep. You service him whenever possible, justlike the good little Sabanista you are.

I care that Miles made several clock management mistakes this year and one embarrassed the LSU name on national tv
No you don't. Oh and if you don't think Saban's Giant frickup didn't make every Sports show in the Nation, you are badly mistaken. Go check UAB's Home page under Football...great stuff!

quote:I'll add a little more. If you recall, after Russell got tackled, there was total confusion. The FG unit started to run onto the field, then was called back, then sent back out, all the while the offense was trying to line up to spike. The coaches had no idea what to do and the clock expired with both the offense and FG unit on the field.
A) 2nd quarter, leading 21-0, deep in UT territory, final seconds, no timeouts left, sophomore QB in the game. Failed to impress upon said QB how absolutely crucial it was not to get tackled short of a first down and inbounds. Result: Russell attempts to scramble, is tackled inbounds short of a first down, clock runs out and we do not get to attempt a FG
quote:He had to be nearly tackled by a grad assistant. Sad when the grad assistant understands timeouts and clock management better than the head coach.
B) Under two minutes left, score tied, we get a turnover and have one last chance to try to score in regulation to win it. Miles attempts to call timeout to save time when the clock was already stopped for change of possession.
Les Miles is a complete clown and his mismanagement of the clock and timeouts has been evident since his very first home game as LSU coach.

what did LSU do in 2000? I think we went from winning 3 games to winning 8 games. BTW, it still has nothing to do with Les Miles' clock management blunders against UGA, Ole Miss, and PSU, which is what my original post was about and what you responded to. I guess you just aren't intelligent enough to stay on subject and have to throw out a random point in order to change the subject to your liking. Nobody gives a frick about Saban and UAB in this thread. Saban isn't our coach, and his coaching against UAB had nothing to do with Les Miles against UGA, Ole Miss, and PSU. Keep bringing it up, it just shows your lack of reading comprehension.

This ]is the Most successful 5 year run in LSU Football History. Yet, you're still here complaining.

So, where are all the jackass Alabama fans? Why don't you see braying jackasses all over Alabama bitching about Nick Saban?
Many of these so-called "LSU Fans" are pulling for Saban & he coaches Alabama. Saban & Bama now have 2 fanbases. You must be so Proud.

Untrue.
2003 through 2007 and 1958 through 1962 were both better. Note that 2003 through 2007 overlaps with 2005 through 2009. What makes 2003 through 2007 better is substituting Saban's 4th and 5th years for Miles' 4th and 5th years. Significant.

No one here is pulling for Saban or Alabama. It's just the opposite. We'd all love to see him fail, but he forces us to recognize that he is a great coach by proving it. That's what a great coach does, and what Miles fails to do.

Wow! You better check your gums, you may have pulled a filling with that last giant suck.

Look, you are the one who brought Saban into this, so I responded. The problem with your approach is that you seem to think that any fault you can find with Saban justifies the faults with Miles. If Saban suffers brain damage next year and becomes an idiot, does that mean Miles can go 0-12 from now on?
This is a discussion about Les Miles and clock management issues. It has nothing to do with Nick Saban, which, believe me, is fortunate for Les Miles. Yes, he, like all coaches in college football, will constantly be compared to his peers. Right now, Saban and a handful of others are setting the standard for great coaches, and Miles just doesn't measure up. One of his problems is clock management, as he has frequently and consistently demonstrated.
Address that issue, and accept that all people are compared to their peers, or quit wasting your time. So far in this thread, you literally have not made one single point that is either valid or relevant.

I don't care what profession a person is in or what their age may be you should never be too old to learn. When one knowes it all then one will slid back a notch or two.
I guess it's somewhat like Tiger Rant and many of it's posters they just can't move on to something else. I don't know if it's because they can't expand their mind beyond this point in time or just want to post for the H___ of it.

No but I'm sure some people took notice he defeated top ten Oklahoma two out of four times with far less talent. The big mistakes of the past have all been corrected, (Malleveto, too many pass plays called with a freshman QB). Now it's time to make correct his game/time management shortcomings, simplify the offensive calls and coach up the Oline. Should be done this year. Let's wait and see.

Enough....Problem solved for 2010. A graduate assistant will be given a headset connected to all coaches and will be responsible for game management. Cooler heads will prevail.
