I'll buy a 4k TV once CBS and Fox start broadcasting in 4k over the air.

well first step is a 4k TV...if you have this then YOU need to tell DirecTV you want 4k...pay them for 4k and then have 4k installed.

not true.
Netflix is 4k, and if you have a 4k TV Netflix automatically sets the color space...its quite magical and you can absolutely see the difference.
Compression and resolution are two completely different things...yes Netflix adds compression as does everyone. But Netflix has the best 4k feed.
HBO's 4k feed has the worst compression, but ironically if you watch it via Amazon the compression is far less and rivals Netflix quality...but thru the HBO app or Directv the compression is horrible.
