And what better way to channel that fury than by invoking the success of a coach who isn't employed by LSU and likely never will be again!

Yeah, well we almost beat(and should have) that same team with a first year quarterback, a shitty OL and an idiot for an OC.

With just a few improvements on our end, I like our chances against Saban in the future.

I don't have a fierce hate for Saban--hell, he won us a (arguably two) NC but he ain't no god either. Deal with it.

It is so hard to believe that Miles:

Beat Saban's team in 2007 at Bama.
Took the undefeated number one team (coached by Saban) to overtime in 2008.
Led the undefeated, now number one, Bama team in the fourth quarter, before losing our number one running back and starting QB, with a chance to win after the not called interception.

Can anyone explain how, if Bama is so far ahead of LSU, that we have been successful and so close these last three years? Really, with a better OL and DL next year, with a more experienced no longer young QB that we will not be the equal to Bama next year?

I agree with you for the most part. I do think that this year's Bama team is better offensively than LSU was in 03. LSU in 03 did not have 2 backs that are as dominant as Ingram and Richardson. However, the LSU d-line in 03 was better than the current bams d-line.

All in All, its a pretty bitter pill to swallow...Saban dominanting the SEC regular season for 2 straight years w/one title while LSU is stuck with a guy that can't make one damn coherent statement to save his life and has managed to go 8-8 the last 2 seasons of SEC play. Sadly, as long as he is here, the only time I see LSU going to the ATL is to play UNC in the opener next year and possibly some additional peach bowls. Forget SEC championships. That's a pipe dream now.

Craig, I must agree with most of what you say. However we are hopein the OL and DL get better. That is up to coaching, so is developing the QB. (dont get me wrong I think JJ can be very good) But I dont have faith in Miles job of coaching or the mental prep of the players.

I believe what kept us close is that LSU's D is pretty decent, giving up a lot of yards, but not a lot of points. Also, AL's QBs haven't been that good. I'm afraid that McElroy just came of age last night and we may not have seen his best yet. Unfortunately.

Yeah, well we almost beat Ole Miss, Alabama, and Florida, and almost lost to all the rest on the schedule.

Yes the D dosnt give up alot of points, But in the process of not getting off the field on 3rd downs and giving up all the yards before we stop the other team. The O doesnt get enough snaps, thus cutting down on production. That aid's to the O being ranked so poorly. Im going to give chavis another year to see what he can do. If we get the same thing from him next year then something will need to change with the D play calling.

They can finish, we can't. They have the horses and the coaching, the toughness, and the determination to finish. Sadly, with the clueless coaching that we have, we can't finish. That's the difference. "Almost winning", is not the same, as winning.

No, people are furious with Miles because we look like shite. Quite often.

Saban's last two years he had a 4th year QB who could manage the game. Miles has had 2 first year QBS. Bama would not have beaten Fla yesterday with JJ or JL at QB. Miles would have done better with Perriloux at QB of course, you piccolo players don't understand the experience factor needed at the QB position.

He's a better HC now than then, more well-rounded person and coach than in the past, more affective due that improved balance. More aggressive offensively in his play-calling, Bama's OL more dominant than his LSU teams, and his current game-managing QB actually is an unbeaten primetime baller. All with the same old dominant Saban D.
This.

Yep because Bama's QB has a ton of experience coming into this year. He had already started how many games on the college level?

what i saw in the SECCG yesterday made me think about what LSU did to Georgia in 2003:

LSU 2003/BAMA2009
young breakout running back
huge holes created by o-line
Smart QB play
offense that can sustain drives and eat clock
Excellent play by the secondary and d-line
domination on both sides of the ball

Georgia 2003/FLA2009
Frustrated opposing coach and players
Ineffective QB
Ineffective run game
Acceptance of domination

Passage of time will prove that Coach Miles will never field a team like the Bammer team we saw last night.

Swap QBs the last two yrs. Miles lost RP and had to use inexperienced QBs. Saban would not have won with Jackson or McCarron at QB.See how he did at LSU in '02 and '04.
