I second this comment. There are many wonderful ball players that have passed through Tiger stadium, but Tommy is in very rarified air. They don't put your name on Tiger Stadium unless you are beyond special. To all of the younger fans I urge you to seek out some of the older games if you can. You won't be disappointed. He is the best I have ever seen personally and no, I don't know him personally. Lol

He dropped the interception that would have sealed a 3-0 win at Norte Dame in 1970....instead we had to settle for a tie.
? We lost 0-3 on their FG after the drop. Joe Thiesman always joked after that was the most on target pass he threw all day, right to TC, "and Tommy dropped it" !! But what a stud he was for sure recall from my adolescence!

He played for Notre Dame high school and has 2 brothers neither named Bobby...Jackie played at LSU and Johnny played at USL

he would be a household name if he would've been drafted by the Steelers or the Cowboys.....instead he went to the Bengals.

He played for the Crowley Gents. There was no Notre Dame high school at that time, best of my recollection.

I was at the game the fans threw oranges on the field, manning did not return to field once it was out of hand and fans chanted we want Archie, two prior years we had lost to him so lots frustration was let out, probably the loudest I have heard tiger stadium, great night!

He and I are the same age so I folliowed him closely when he played.
In the open field he was as smooth a runner as there ever was.
Check out the '70 Ole Miss game and his 2 punt returns for TDs.
Also, his senior against Tulane... a Tulane running back broke clear on a run on the opposite side of the field. Casanova ran him down to seal a shutout. It was amazing to see.
He came from a well to do family in Crowley as his dad was a doctor there. He became a doctor himself but playing football was a means to an end for him, not an end itself.
On top of his athletic and academic achievements, he also served a term or two in the Louisiana Legislature.
I'm sure he is an equality outstanding family man as well.
He is a true Renaissance man and someone the state of Louisiana should be very proud to call a native son.

He was LSU for most of us Kids in the late 60's and early 70's. My favorite Tiger of all time, could do it all, loved to see him at RB and will always remember that hit he layed on Musso the gump along the sideline. Loved seeing him play and the LSU teams during that era, they were gritty always undersized.

Memory fades me, would have sworn he was a Crowley High. We played them each year of my high school (Jennings),so that would explain why I do not remember playing against him. He is 4 yrs younger than me.
My mother was a graduate of St. Michaels. It's a small world.

Hat is correct.
I should have known that. I have watched that game so many times.

I'll always remember him knocking Alabama "stud" RB Johnny Musso out of the game...a hit on the sideline when Casanova was playing safety.
Tiger Stadium exploded as Musso wobbled back to his sideline. Lucky for him he didn't have too far to go!

I work with him weekly. He's as good of a guy as he was a football player. Funny thing is he doesn't see himself as a former LSU football great. He's very humble. He's just a normal guys

He could do it all, but who was better him or Jerry Stovall?
Posted on 5/17/17 at 1:46 am to OU812
Casanova was better than Stovall.

Simply the best. Better than all the rest.
Tremendous football player. Could have possibly been an All American offensive player
Outstanding track star, believe he was a hurdler.
All Pro NFL star.
Went to medical school and is a practicing physician.
The best ambassador LSU could possibly have.
